As a random note, the other thing I like that the Wii U does with its original Wii mode is not stretch Virtual Console games.  It recognizes things that are 4:3 and puts black bars in automatically.  I have a plasma screen and the TV's version of that puts annoying bright grey bars instead of black, which is super irritating!

Would it REALLY have been that big a deal for Nintento to throw $1 of hardware into the tablet so that it could perform the necessary Bluetooth communication to be compatible?
