Not to put words in people's mouths but I'm sure some people are wondering why I'd even want to talk about this soundtrack.
Unfortunately, I don't have a "real" answer for them.
For some reason I've been wanting to add this to my collection and I finally did come across a copy. As it is known it's kind of uncommon. You could say it's rare but the price on the secondhand market kind of betrays that train of thought and indicates people generally just don't have an interest in it... and I completely understand that.
So why did I want it? Probably an unsurprising combination of nostalgia and pity. Yeah, not a very good reason. I've bought things for lesser reasons however.
Still, when I think of The Legaia I'm always drawn back to this single review on RPGFan:

I love how blunt the beginning of this review is. This makes it totally classic. Even though I own the album and enjoyed the game, I don't think Gann is wrong in the slightest. The music does fit well within the game but as far as longevity outside of it or the mere memory of it? Not really.
However, my opinion does differ slightly when it comes to the track the album should be known for. I can totally see why/how "wanna wanna" sticks out and that is a good point... but I generally gravitate towards track eighteen "The Misty Nest."
In all honesty I know this track isn't that great but when it comes to my experience with the game (which I replayed back in 2011 to refreash my opinion on it) this track really did personify the evil mist generators to me. Also, I really like the application of this track in the game. In the mist generators "The Misty Nest" overrides the main battle theme "The Brand of the Holy Knuckles" and it actually works pretty well IMO.
So sorry to ramble on but yeah, I'd probably have to admit the game (well, the battle system) is the most memorable part of the game.
However, since we're on the subject, how was the music for the sequel? I know Michiru Oshima returned for it but that's obviously not why people are interested in that one given some of the co-composers.
