Correction: they like to have others shoot things that get in their way! In this case: endangered seals. That's right ENDANGERED seals. They've made a comeback (but still endangered), so now, we shoot them? Well yeah, because otherwise it's hard to take your yacht out.

Some rich assholes feel that they can eliminate anything that's in MY BACKYARD because they want to go to THEIR BEACH anytime so they
can use THEIR YACHT anytime and have a clear view to see THEIR horizon anytime they want. Welcome to Cap Cod.

" "This is a real threat to the traditional way of life on this island," Krogh said. "
->I guess the fact that the seals have lived on the cape for thousands of years means nothing.

"...many fishermen say the seals interfere with fishing charters and steal catch "
->" "Culls of gray seals have not been shown to increase fish populations. "
->" "What we're seeing is a normal growth curve of seals repopulating an area." "

The gray seal is classified as a species of least concern, which means that it's not anywhere close to being endangered.

It does take the sensationalism out of the story though, and news rags hate that.  Just being on the beach doesn't make them enough of a pest to warrant hunting them as far as I'm concerned.
