So Kojima is tackling Silent Hill with Del Toro and Norman Reedus. I haven't played the demo (don't have a PS4) but the footage looked really good. Not massively Silent Hill but then the series is hardly consistent at this point so I see that as neither a positive nor negative. I'm not a huge fan of the direction Kojima went in the progression from MGS to MGS4, giving lengthier cut scenes with what for me ended up being barely a game whereas I feel Silent Hill needs a level of immersion that can only come from that direct interaction. But he'll bring a level of cinematic polish. Whether that's something Silent Hill will benefit from is debatable.

The good thing, I think, is that it shows Konami really giving Silent Hill the attention it deserves again. I do feel they wandered and showed little faith in the series of late and Shattered Memories was criminally moved aside (it should have made it to more systems) so to come back with Kojima, a budget and not just some random outsourcing is a very good thing in my opinion.

I'll be watching how it develops with interest.

The one name that could have excited me though was Akira Yamaoka. Guess that's too much to hope for.

Playing through the demo as we speak, and I'm loving the SHIT out of it.
It's just a simple demo but it's one of the scariest experiences I've ever had with a video game.

When I heard the announcement I got pretty excited. Now that I've played the demo, I can't WAIT for this.

Not to take anything away from it, but it sure sounds like this is a rebranding of Insane, a game Del Toro was working on for THQ before they folded and he had to find a new publisher. I also wonder just how much Kojima will actually be involved. They shouted his name from the rooftops for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, but he ended up not having much actual involvement other than to have his name help with sales. That said, I'm looking forward to trying the demo and seeing if I like it or not.

Actually, I can think of some games that were re-branded at some point through development that turned out good. Ninja Gaiden Shadow on the GB wasn't a NG game at first and Bravely Default was, from what I hear, was a sequel to The 4 Heroes of Light.

Could very well be the case, XLord.

I'm not complaining though.

The credited staff in the demo already has a huge overlap with Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

That's good news.

I played through the demo last night. I actually really liked it, but only because I used a FAQ to to finish it. Without the FAQ, it would have been very frustrating to complete that last puzzle.

So you found a FAQ that actually helped for the last puzzle?
It seems there's no consensus on the final puzzle at all, so I'm curious to hear what worked for you.

The IGN wiki FAQ worked for me. I used Method 01, but know that I had to try it probably 10 times before I could get Method 01 to work. Also, you need to follow what it says under the NOTE section before Method 01 exactly.

I had very little success with Method 01, mainly because I'm pretty sure the sound of the haunting isn't actually tied to a specific location.
The very first time I got the ending, I had just placed myself in the bathroom looking at the fetus, put down the controller and did something else for a while, and after like 20 minutes or so, the controller started vibrating, which is the sign that you got the second giggle, so I have no idea how that happened, but it might have to do with Method 01.

Here's the interesting and bizarre thing though, I've been following the GAF thread on this game very closely, and people have found a ridiculous but pretty much guaranteed way of getting this to work. I just added it as Method 06 to the IGN guide, although it's so preposterous that I wouldn't be surprised if they took it down.

BUT IT WORKS, seriously. I got a 6/7 success rate with this, it's insane:

Upon entering the hallway on this loop, go stand near the telephone (the location perhaps doesn't really matter, but you'll need to go to the phone anyway eventually), and wait for the first haunting to start.
During the haunting play the audio of the following YouTube video into your mic (the chimes do not seem relevant, you need to play this during haunting sounds):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gfo0WfV-L-c

By the time the haunting ends, you should get your first giggle. If successful, you can do the 10-step method described above (you can just walk 10 steps on the spot, you don't have to move between specific locations) to get the second giggle (you can do this first if you want as well, the order doesn't matter).
Then the controller will start vibrating and all you have to do is stay still to get the third giggle and the phone will start ringing.

That is insane. I already deleted the teaser, so I can't try it myself, but that is just nuts. How did people even think to try that?

Silent Hills Cancellation Makes No F**king Sense, Says Guillermo Del Toro

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/silent … 0-6431397/

"In addition to Del Toro and Kojima, it has been revealed that renowned manga creator Junji Ito--widely believed to be one of the masters of Japanese horror--was also working on Silent Hills."

Can't blame Konami for canceling this game. When you have so much talent working on a project, you just might come up with a truly remarkable game that shakes the status quo, and we just can't have that, can we.
