The Nintendo World Championships were pretty dull before this was unveiled; when they painted the Mother Brain battle in Super Metroid as showing the contestants no mercy, even I had to shake my head ruefully (then again, at least one contestant managed to lose that battle...). But this was truly amazing to watch; not only were the levels surprisingly challenging, watching the two players learn so quickly on their feet was genuinely impressive. In my opinion, this also happened to be the most effective advertising for Mario Maker (now known as "Super Mario Maker") to date. Some of the new sprites don't quite fit their motifs (SMW Bowser looks completely out of place in SMW, for example), but the sheer amount of customizability pushes this beyond the realm of mere novelty.
