It's a mystery to me why this guy was fired. Can anyone shed some light on this?

he blabbed when he shouldn't have. Nintendo (or any other corporation) probably doesn't like seeing its own employees disparaging their own work practices and policies. He would probably have signed an NDA as part of his job and most likely by speaking about this stuff he broke that and as a result was fired.
He disclosed company policies when he signed an NDA that explicitly forbids that kind of thing. He did something tremendously stupid so he got fired. End of story.
Anyone with half a brain working at a huge company like that would not appear on a Podcast privately and start running his mouth off about company matters.
