Straight up dick move right there.

True. Although, I think there may be more to it than that, since it sounds like Med Express was overall unethical and perhaps even unlawful at times. All that said, if there is an error and a seller says "oops, sorry, I'll reimburse you or whatever" and the buyer still leaves negative feedback, then yeah the buyer is an ass.

Suing a customer over negative feedback is about as nuclear an option as you can get on places even like ebay.  Leaving a 100% accurate description of the transaction is not a valid cause for libel.  If a company is going to get so butthurt they should stay off the internet.

I thought the same it sounded a bit crazy but if you read the article I can see why, although I don't approve, they would jump to such extreme measures. If as it says eBay ties your fees to your rating even a little dent in your rep could leave your business losing hundreds if not thousands of dollars for years to come.

I don't know how big a seller this Med Express is but what if the risks of a losing the suit drastically outweighed their potential future losses. It could even total far more than the laywer fees they now have to pay.

I know as a first time seller I'm a little negative about the whole experience. Just sold my first auction for $94 sans shipping. eBay and Paypal made off with about $20 of that hmm

I'm sorry but I don't buy that at Zorb.

I mean really... when was the last time you bought something off of someone with 100% feedback? The only sellers with those kinds of rating are those starting out or don't sell much. If you sell a lot of have done it for a prolonged amount of time you're probably going to have a few negatives. They might not be deserved then they might be. It's the nature of the beast.

If someone has like a 97 or 98% that doesn't scare me off because there's always a "spook story." It's like when you work somewhere there's always a story about someone getting hurt, etc.

The only time feedback really matters is when it's ridiculously low*... and when it's that low it's probably on the seller.

* = of course, feedback is more important when buying soundtracks because a majority of people don't know they're buying bootlegs so the feedback is definitely skewed.

That seems oddly high.  Some categories may differ, but I think it's generally a 10% cut for ebay and as a seller it's 2.9% + .30 for paypal.  So on $94 it should be $12.43.  It's not all that great, especially since receiving money via money order so you don't get them double dipping isn't an option any longer but it's not as bad as you had it.

You have to understand how it works. ebay takes 10% and paypal about 4%. So I don't see how you lost $20 from a $94 sale. You should have had to pay about $14. Unfortunately there's really not much competition to ebay. Although to be honest, a 10% commission is reasonable.

edit: Paladin probably has a better estimate. I figured it was 4%. Regardless, both of us agree that $20 seems way higher than it should be.
