Is planing on going to one of these?

I live in NYC, which makes this extremely convenient - though I'm not tremendously excited by the thought of a piano concert.

I ended up buying tickets for this concert after all, playing on Feb. 26th in NYC. I'll give my thoughts afterward.
any chance of picking up an extra sampler cd from that event?
Do you know if the sampler CD needs to be purchased (e.g. after standing in line at a merchandise booth), or do they give out one with each ticket?
If it's the latter, I should be able to get an extra one. If the former, I'll play it by ear depending on the length of the line.
i'm pretty sure you have to stand in line for one. thanks!
Okay, I'll see what I can do.
What's on the sampler?
What's on the sampler?
The tracks are here:

and the album is this one:
According to vgmdb, the album is given out with VIP tickets to the concert. I don't have VIP tickets unfortunately, but if they also give it away at the merch booth with a certain $ amount of purchases (like the TGS samplers), there's a chance I can get it.
Oh, I see. I have a VIP ticket but I'm not sure I'll want to give this up. James do you want it just for the FFXV track or do you want it for collection purposes? I'll probably want to get rid of it once FFXV OST is released so I can hold on to it for you if it's for the latter. If you just want it for the audio I will be ripping it and will share youknowhere.
someone on reddit has already shared the FFXV track, I'm wanting the CD for collection purposes. If you don't want yours jb after you're done with it i'll gladly take it off your hands! thanks.

As I had suspected it was related to not being able to get a performance visa in time, just as most convention cancellations .
I went to the Piano Opera concert in NYC last night. I don't have time to write a detailed review, but if anyone has questions about it, please ask and I'll be happy to answer.

Set list?
Any noticeable mistakes on any of the more crazy-challenging parts of the song?
Your favorite live performance, and did it (and other songs) leave a stronger impression on you than the studio recordings?
You get any CDs signed?
As for the set list, they definitely played all of the songs below, plus some others which I can't recall (especially those from FF VIII and IX, which I'm less familiar with). Overall I liked the selection, though I wouldn't have minded seeing more from the first three games.
Town Medley [FINAL FANTASY I/II/III]
Troian Beauty [FINAL FANTASY IV]
Clash on the Big Bridge [FINAL FANTASY V]
Kefka [FINAL FANTASY VI]
Dancing Mad [FINAL FANTASY VI]
Cosmo Canyon [FINAL FANTASY VII]
Opening ~ Bombing Mission [FINAL FANTASY VII]
Melodies Of Life [FINAL FANTASY IX]
No notable mistakes in the playing that I picked up. Maybe a few small ones here and there? I'm not a musician myself, so perhaps I'm not the best person to judge Though Dancing Mad sounded pretty flawless to me.
Hearing Dancing Mad performed live was pretty awesome. I thought the piano did the song justice well. The pianist was clearly a big fatigued afterward (the piece came near the end of the concert).
I also really liked Troian Beauty. FF IV has my favorite music of the series, and the song worked really well on piano.
I didn't get anything signed, as I didn't have a VIP ticket.
A few other notable points:
- Relative to the Distant Worlds concert I attended last year, the audience seemed younger on average. I'm not sure if this is because of the music style (orchestra vs. piano), the location (NJ vs. NYC), the fact that the concert was at a college, or something else.
- There was a merchandise booth, where they were selling the Piano Opera special edition album (http://vgmdb.net/album/55314), as well as Piano Opera t-shirts. The booth was cash only.
- After every few songs, there was a translator who asked some questions to Uematsu and Nakayama in Japanese, and relayed their answers in English. Things like "how did you guys meet?", "what FF song is the most meaningful for you?", ... . For the latter question, Nakayama said Dancing Mad, and Uematsu said it's hard to answer, but his answer this time is Melodies of Life. I thought it was cool that they interacted with the audience in this way.
Thanks for the feedback.
Agreed that Town Medley isn't enough material from I-III. I'd have hoped for Eternal Wind, Boundless Ocean, or Tower of the Magi. Just one of them would've been satisfactory for me!
Thanks again for all the info!
