I have a feeling the music will be top notch. However, I can't say the same for the story or game as a whole. Still, wait and see smile

I agree with Avatar (yes, it IS possible!)

The music will undoubtedly be wonderful, but I'm not getting my hopes up for the game, since the last one was shit. Maybe they learned from their mistakes though, who knows?

Ha! I actually thought it was one of the better RPGs to come out of Japan in years! Great music. Beautiful graphics and video. Memorable characters. The plot was generic, the fighting was decent if not great. Certainly not perfect, but fun and whimsical enough to keep me very entertained. Why didn't you like it? As for the sequel, what worries me is that it will be too much like the previous game, but wait and see.

Oh it was gorgeous! Wonderful presentation, beautiful music, but all that kind of stuff means nothing to me if I'm not having fun, and I just didn't enjoy the combat. The difficulty was also all over the place, and there's a bunch of ridiculous boss fights in there (they may have tweaked the difficulty for the Western release though. I definitely remember they released/patched in an "Easy" version here in Japan, because they got a LOT of complaints).

I actually think that RPGs are not Level 5's forte (hated DQ8 too, although 9 was cool), and that they're much better at Adventure-type games (the Layton games, and the brilliant visual novel Time Travelers, which was unfortunately never localized).

No interest at all. Like Amazingu I found the combat awful and because there was so much of it I never bothered to finish.

The 2 Dark Cloud/Chronicles were my favorite games they released. I thought L5 was only in charge of the graphics for DQ8?

Oh, I forgot about those!
I actually quite liked Dark Cloud, and I really want to get that update they put out on PS4 recently, but I'm waiting for the JP version (not a single word has been said about PS2 classics on PS4 in Japan yet).

Dark Chronicles was great on paper, but it was just too big and complex for its own good, I felt.

Level 5 swears it'll be a better this time! Do you believe them?

I've always found their games to be *almost* good. They always catch my eye and look interesting and then I play them and end up being disappointed with the actual game. I think they're bound to get it right one of these days cause they're so close. Will this be the one?

Amazingu Dec 7, 2015

I should hope they learned from their mistakes, yes.

Aww man, you just know shit's about to get real when it involves a coup d'etat! Also: kung-fu princess taking down trained soldiers with just a dagger, and even flattening one of them to the ground. You wish!

I haven't even finished the first game; I've been playing a little of it every Summer since 2013, and still haven't finished it. It is a HUGE game! And having to level build doesn't help.

The plot and characters of Ni no Kuni, I couldn't care less about, but the soundtrack's good, and the world is just fun to be in and experience.

The Dark Cloud games, the amount of level-building you had to do to be able to stand up to boss fights was INSANE; you could kill every single enemy in the dungeons leading up to the boss fight, but STILL be underleveled.

Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2 probably wouldn't have happened for me if I'd had better games to play at the time. I still wax nostalgic about Dark Cloud 2 every so often, but I never want to do that amount of level-building ever again. I must've sank over 60 hours into that game!

When it comes to Level 5, I don't think they're good at designing battle systems, or making sure the game is balanced/paced so you don't have to do Dragon Quest amounts of level-building.

I liked Rogue Galaxy (at least, I liked the settings, but the settings were still pretty cookie cutter, as well as the plot and characters), but after awhile, all I had to do was cast Jaster's Desert Storm at the beginning of every battle, and battle was over immediately. At least that was one RPG I DIDN'T have to sink over 40 hours into, in order to finish.

Similar deal with Ni no Kuni, in which I'm just casting spells to end battle immediately, when you consider how tedious and sometimes instant-death melee combat is.

I should probably pull this game out again and actually finish it; I'd swear I'm probably half way through it. I've already logged about 30 hours into it.
