Amazon MP3 is actually turning out to be a decent place to purchase and download soundtracks for both console games and indie games, as opposed to buying the relatively expensive import albums; also quite an amount of J-Pop on there, too.

Late noticing this thread... I get the impression that most VGM publishers that release on iTunes nowadays release on Amazon MP3 as well (in the U.S. at least). And more and more of those are releasing on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music as well, though plenty of Japanese publishers like Square are still holding back.

If it were one or the other I'd buy from Amazon, mainly because I'm loathe to install iTunes, but generally I'm still reluctant to buy music digitally unless it's lossless a la Bandcamp.

Capcom has a decent amount of their stuff on amazon as well.

But yeah, I like Physical because I rarely ever see DLs with the correct credits listed in the tags. I like to know who wrote what.

I'd gladly buy digital if I knew I was getting properly tagged lossless files.

in general if its available from amazon, its available on google play which is generally a better choice since they encode their mp3s in straight 320CBR. amazon's mp3s appear to be encoded in vbr3; they cut off sharply at about 16khz across the board. or if you're particular about lossless, 7digital and qobuz are generally getting the major new releases in FLAC and starting to build up a decent back catalog of the classics.
