I just noticed this was released for the PSP... why?  In my opinion, this would be a perfect game for the DS smile  Of course, so many games are perfect for the DS!  I'm currently in the midst of Trace Memory (it's a game that's easy to pick up and leave at will -I like that!  seems many DS games are that way), which is very fun, has a cool storyline, but I fear will be over very quickly.  Has anyone played Lost Magic?  I've read some mixed reviews, and am wondering what people have to say.  Also, as much as I enjoy the DS Lite, I do think it was obnoxious of Nintendo to release the DS, and then shortly thereafter release the upgrade "Lite" version!  It makes me wonder if Nintendo doesn't have a "DS Lite+" in the works...

cheers,

By the way...do people actually play the PSP?  Last I saw on ebay, PSP systems were going for around the same price, and in some cases lower than the DS Lite!

cheers again,

So Lemmings (the topic title) really only served as a lead-in to a DS rave? Are you actually looking for an answer to any of the questions you asked?

I wouldn't go so far as to call it obnoxious.  There's nothing in the DS lite that makes the regular DS obsolete.  It's just a more compact, sexier designer with brighter screens.  Constant inovation in portable hardware is nothing new, and this should be expected, especially given that Nintendo is trying to be Apple and Apple releases new iPod models no fewer than twice a year.

As for a third DS model, Nintendo is most certainly working on further revisions.  When we will see the next one, however, remains to be seen.

System sales in the U.S. have been steady, but game sales have not.  I'd like to get one so I can play my Rockman games, but $200 is still too high, and I'm hoping for a new model.

I don't think Avatar would ask them if he weren't sincere. And almost everyone on these forums seems to be in love with the DS (myself included), so I kind of saw the DS rave coming.

He does have a point, though. Lemmings is a title that would work far better on DS than on anything else. There's only so much you can do with a D-pad or analog stick.

And what's wrong with a DS rave every now and then?!  As to your second question, I'm always interested in hearing what other people around here have to say!

Oh absolutely nothing is wrong with a DS rave - it's well-deserved. I guess I was just expecting a thread on Lemmings...and I did love Lemmings so back in the day.

To answer the questions - Lemmings is actually owned by Sony, hence PSP. Having said that, I genuinely couldn't see it working with touchscreen controls given the level of accuracy required. I could be wrong but I think singling out individual lemmings on DS would be an exercise in frustration. No great loss though - I have PSP Lemmings and, while it is a lovely conversion with some great new levels and surprisingly good control, there is such a thing as too much lemmings. It just doesn't have the hold it once did. Having said that, if they do a similar polish-job with Lemmings 2, I'll be first in line.

LostMagic - not me. I've heard a few people say they love it but, on the whole, I'm hearing average reports and, well, the DS has far too many well-above-average games for me to get to it.

PSP - yeah, I play it and love it. But that's because I'm pretty much a handheld-only gamer these days. TR:Legend is excellent on it. Outrun 2006 C2C is fantastic. Monster Hunter rocks. Capcom Classics Remixed is worth the price of a PSP alone in my opinion. SFA3 is great as long as you have the d-pad add-n but serves to highlight just how desperately the PSP needs a redesign. All of those games (well, aside from some on the Capcom collection) I could play on a large console but having them on a handheld is heaven for me and having a handheld that can run current-generation console games without taking much of a hit is something entirely new to handheld gaming.
