Coffee. Ground beans and water. Do you drink it? Do you drink a specific kind? How do you take it?

I myself drink Dunkin' Donuts. Usually a medium-size, black with two to three sugars.

Ryu Jun 28, 2006

No.

Zane Jun 28, 2006

I usually rock a medium Dunks French Vanilla with cream and sugar, but I'm down for whatever. Maxwell House in the morning (thanks mom!), Starbucks during the day, decaf at night... as long as it doesn't taste like mud and/or a pile of sugar, I dig.

Sabreman Jun 28, 2006 (edited Jun 28, 2006)

Starbucks every morning to wake me up at work, no more during the day though as it makes me incredibly jittery. Funny thing is I don't seem to be affected by it at night and can happily put away several mugs - doesn't even stop me sleeping.

Because I'm incredibly lazy and impatient I'm drinking these instant mocha and cappuchino things. You just add hot water while whisking them up. Really nice (I'm the kind of guy that paces about waiting for his toast).

Adam Corn Jun 28, 2006

At work when I'm in danger of nodding off at my desk (today being such a case) and out at Starbucks or your various other cafes to people watch and pass the time.  Black at work, caramel macchiato at Starbucks, almond caramel latte elsewhere.  Macchiato sure sounds good right now...

Crash Jun 28, 2006

No coffee for me.  Actually, I don't drink caffeine at all except in rare circumstances.  When I really need it (last week before an exam, for example), I don't have a built-up tolerance, so I can get a lot of mileage out of a single Barq's.

Exactly what I do. A small cup of black coffee now keeps me up for 8 hours.. it's awesome : B

Shinobin Jun 29, 2006

Just a little, maybe once or twice a month.  When I do drink it I drink it black - goes well with breakfest food from Perkins!

Qui-Gon Joe Jun 29, 2006

I drink green tea (hey, it shows up on my desk c/o the nice old lady at school every day whose purpose seems to be just to serve tea and do gardening) and occasionally cold coffee drinks from vending machines.  But those are mostly sugar anyway.  I've been forced to build up a tolerance for the flavor of coffee while here because EVERY junior high school/elementary school/kindergarten I go to serves me coffee because that's what gaijin like to drink.  >_<

avatar! Jun 29, 2006

No.  In fact, I don't drink cola either.  I stick to water, milk, and fresh juices (OJ, smoothie, etc smile

cheers,

Wanderer Jun 29, 2006 (edited Jun 29, 2006)

Very rarely. Everyone around me consumes the stuff to death (that's Seattle for you) but I tend to stick to diet sodas. Every so often if I'm going out with a friend, I'll have black coffee but it's not often.

Schala Jun 29, 2006 (edited Jun 29, 2006)

Every so often I head over to Starbucks with a friend after work for a late-night coffee and cheesecake. I loved it the last time we went and I discovered their mint creme thing (or whatever it was). Or maybe it was always there and I never noticed it, heh.

Otherwise, I'll drink coffee only when the fancy strikes me. Which is usually only when we're staying in a hotel and I want to use up their comp bags of coffee, or when I'm seriously desperate to stay awake at work. (That second one has happened only about twice in 5 years.) I always take cream and sugar.

Carl Jun 29, 2006

Nope.  Water and Green Teas = teh health!

Jay Jun 29, 2006

You betray your avatar Carl.

I drink coffee. It's too nice not to. Drink of the gods. I'm not so much into cold coffees but I did try a Starbucks banana caramel frappachino the other day and it was just lovely.

Sabreman Jun 29, 2006

Cold coffee just seems so wrong. I can't bring myself to try it.

I did however try green tea - didn't like it though! I do drink a lot of flavoured teas (lemon tea and honey is super) but I found that particular one just not to my taste.

SquareTex Jun 29, 2006

I drink whatever's at work, naturally. smile

Beyond that, I have a Sunday ritual where I have breakfast at McDonald's before church. And I actually like the new coffee blend.

Oh...and it goes without saying that I ADORE Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Too bad there's ONLY ONE STORE IN THE ENTIRE AUSTIN AREA!!! sad

XISMZERO Jun 29, 2006 (edited Jun 29, 2006)

I also drink Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee (black) when I want to relax in the afternoon on nice days for a bit. This is usually my first coffee of the day. Occasionally, I'll like a small hot black coffee at night because coffee is more or less one of my comfort foods.

When I vacationed in Florida last year, I brought myself to have canned coffee in the form of going to Epcot and buying a ($2.50) can of that powdered tasting cold coffee in vending machines in Japan. It wasn't horrible but it was nothing like fresh brewed iced coffee from DD at all.

mr. s Jun 29, 2006 (edited Jun 29, 2006)

Tai Ice coffe with condensed milk when I eat vietnamese.
Starbucks white chocolate mocha w/ extra pump of flavor
In the winter I drink coffee at home, no specific brand, but dark columbian roast with vanilla dairy creamer and sugar...I like it sweet.

Schala, have you tried Starbuck's expresso brownie? Delicious!

Yeah that could be confusing, but it's there since I like the graphic style, not because it happens to be a JP coffee logo   smile

Jousto Jun 30, 2006

Coffee... I hate that sh*t sad I don't understand why some people drink coffee even if they don't like its taste. My choice for a drink is tea, usually black but sometimes green, too. I always have quite a nice selection of different blends. Right now around 20 of them. I love tea but hate coffee. I don't think anyone could ever force me to drink that crap. Makes me feel so non-Finn... XP

SonicPanda Jun 30, 2006

Coffee? Nope, can't stand the stuff. Pepsi's my drink of choice, especially while gaming (Coke's a bit too sugary for me).

Hope you go to confession while you're there.  "Forgive me Father, for I have eaten McDonalds this day..."

XLord007 Jun 30, 2006 (edited Jun 30, 2006)

I like the taste of coffee, but I don't drink it since I dislike the yuppie culture that has grown up around it (much the same way I don't listen to pop music -- I have nothing against the music, I just dislike the teen culture).  I also generally avoid caffienated (sp?) stuff (save for some teas I don't mind) and all carbonated beverages (excluding beer of course).

Go for the green. Antioxidents and all, ya know. ^_~ I drink tea far more often as well, usually once a day. I really love those Lipton green teas infused with other flavors, although my current brand of choice is YamaMotoYama.

Angela Jul 1, 2006

Used to be a notorious coffee addict, but have since cut down dramatically.  Nowadays, the drink is usually reserved as a dessert accompaniment, like with a piece of cake after dinner.

I've developed a strong liking for Malaysian white coffee.  It's very, very tasty.

Shinobin Jul 2, 2006

I know this is a coffee discussion but with all the talk about tea I had to bring up Chai lattes (Chai tea with steamed milk).  These are like the most delicious drinks, are they not?

They taste like thanksgiving!  And if we're going to start bringing up things that have much more fat and sugar content than normal coffee and tea, the green tea frapaccinos (sp?) they serve at Starbucks in Japan (and I've heard now in the states as well) are to die for.  Almost literally, if you look at the calorie content... (though that goes for nearly any Starbucks drink).

I love it indeed. I still have a couple cans of powdered Chai latte that I got for real cheap...I should go mix up one of those again sometime soon.

Idolores Jul 18, 2006

Coffee looks, tastes and smells like something that would come from the ass-end of a car. I do not imbibe the stuff.

richard Jul 19, 2006

Black - two heaped coffee, two sugar. Occasionally with a dash of milk!

It has a nice caffiene rush - well used to, but the fix doesn't last as long as tea. Tea has a lower buzz of caffiene to it that lasts longer!

Alex Jul 20, 2006

I'm a big fan of coffee (as long as it has lots of sugar and cream!), but I only drink a glass about once a week on average.  Caffeine doesn't seem to do anything like help me wake up in the morning or have more energy, so I always go decaf when I can.  The only affect Caffeine seems to have is to keep me from falling asleep when I'm trying to sleep.

Coffee's best hot (but not too hot), but it's great cold too.  Flavors like vanilla, raspberry, hazelnut, or even mint are often nice, but not necessary.  Gevalia has some great blends.  I'm not wild about Starbucks (it often tastes burnt) unless I get something like a Frapuccino.  Their Valencia orange Frapuccino is great and the banana one was pretty interesting, but there's always too much ice when you get to the bottom, just like a slurpee.

Another great thing is coffee flavored ice cream.  Probably the best ice cream I've ever had was something called "Javapolitan" made by Safeway.  It had three different kinds of coffee ice cream put together like Neapolitan, and it was amazing.  I still haven't gotten over them canceling it.  The new Starbucks Mud Pies are great too.  So, uh, yeah, I like coffee.

Datschge Jul 20, 2006

Fresh homemade latte macchiato, up to three times a day depending on mood. Most sold coffees are crap.
