It seems that Tanomi is considering a box set OST for the Breath of Fire series.  They want to receive 1000 order requests before beginning production.  They're saying the soundtrack will contain 11 CDs, two each for BOF I, II, IV, V and three CDs for BOF III.  Also, Tanomi lists Yoko Shimomura as one of the four composers for BOF I.  I wasn't aware of this...

Tanomi is also taking order requests for a Capcom Classic Collection DVD:

If these albums receive enough requests, I think it's likely that Cocoebiz will take special orders for them.

Oh my, what a fantastic proposition. I suppose there's no point in a westerner putting in a request directly, and that expressing an interest to Kahori would be more practical?

I certainly wouldn't want to miss out...

Razakin Feb 17, 2006

Holy...f---ing..shit.. 11 cds full of Breath of Fire tunes.

I just <3 CapCom and SulePuter now. This is a must for me. Finally a f---ing complete release of BoF III soundtrack.

BTW, can someone tell me who were the composers for BREATH OF FIRE I?  That game had REALLY incredible music IMO, and I'd certainly like to find out who were the lucky chaps who penned the music to that game.

Well, in the game they're named with the nicknames: Bun Bun, Mari, Ojalin, also Yoko Shimomura composed tracks. But Tanomis webpage does have the composer names in japanese: 藤田靖明/下村陽子/藤井美苗/山口真理. First should be Yasuaki Fujita, second is Shimomura. Can't tell names of the other two, but seems that we will hopefully know the guys and girls behind those aliases.

Abrahm Feb 17, 2006

Yessir, I will be all over this.  The CD release of the original Breath of Fire music makes it worth purchasing.  And with multiple discs promised, we should get all of the music from Breath of Fire II and III.  Both of those OST releases were incomplete, to say the least.

My money's already reserved for this set.  I'll pre-order as soon as CocoeBiz allows it. big_smile

Man, 9240 Y, that's impressive for all these five soundtracks !
And to think I just bought Breath of Fire V ost... ah, well.

Svenlove2003 Feb 17, 2006

Concerning that point, does anyone wants to sell his BOF II OST complete with obi?And I want this damned set too,and quickly...but I'm probably dreaming.this can't be true.   :'(

If I am right, the names are Yasuaki Fujita, Yoko Shimomura, Minae Fujii and Mari Yamaguchi.

Thank you all for your help!  Now we'll know who to give kind words to when we think about the folks who composed the score!

Cool...Breath of Fire 3's OST always felt empty, knowing how incomplete it was.

I wonder what prompted a potential release of this...

New Breath of Fire perhaps coming? Or japanese fans wanted BoF boxset after Makaimura, but seems that Capcom is making a new Makaimura game so, it could be that there'e a new BoF coming out.

Probably we will see Street Fighter boxset and Rockman boxset this year. Just think about how many CDs those would contain. big_smile

This is great news even though I already have the BoFV soundtrack.  "The Wonder" from Breath of Fire II deserves to be released on an album.  So many favorites from the series. (though I have yet to play part four)  Hopefully we'll find out which particular Breath of Fire tracks Shimomura composed.  I've come to realize that I get more nostalgic with that soundtrack than I do with with the soundtrack of the second game, even though I think the second game is better.  Maybe the first game's soundtrack is greater than I thought.  I've always been a fan of the great overworld theme (awesome song), forest theme, and catchy "In a Cave" theme.  Recently I've also realized that "Sara's Theme" and many others have a quality to them that I enjoy.

BoF set seems like a good deal for neophytes, but I have BoF4 and SPCs and PSFs have since diminished my burning need for such a thing. Could do, though. Let's hear prices first.

The Collection DVD, by the way, seems to be nothing more than a video collection of game endings. That is to say, if you have a yen to see Ryu's ending from SF2 and can't be bothered to play the game, here you go.

As far as future boxes are concerned, a Street Fighter pack's a good guess, but I'd put my money on a Biohazard one first.

Biohazard Chronicle from last year? Nevermind the fact I don't like Biohazard's music...It's pretty much had its' "big" release.

Thing with Street Fighter...What would be included? Arrangements? Spin-offs? It'd be interesting to see how they decided to determine what would be in such a box.

I think Megaman 7 is LONG overdue for some kind of soundtrack release, so I'm hoping for something of that ilk overall. A CD release for the PS1 arrangements would be nice as well. And 8 and Megaman and Bass, for the sake of completeness. Maybe the Gameboy ones.

My bet: A box for the 7 Capcom GSM albums.

I would very much like a set with all the music from the GB/GBC MM games.

Idolores Mar 17, 2006

Agree on everything. I've loved the BoF for as long as it has been out, even if I did miss out on 4 and 5. How were those two, anyways? Can they trounce 3 (which was my favorite)?

Thomas Mar 17, 2006

Thanks for the heads-up! placed my pre-order just now wink

I simply *love* every BoF ost, even though they differ like day and night. III was laid-back fusion, IV was laid-back middle east/eastern while V was Sakimoto ala Vagrant Story.

Stephen Mar 17, 2006

There was enough music if BoF III for 3 discs?  That is unusual consider IV and V only take up 2 discs.  Usually sequels tend to have longer soundtracks.
