Coming sometime in January.

The DeathSmiles OST became an instant favorite for me.  If this next soundtrack is similar, then I'll have another instant favorite.

EDIT: I just saw the videos.  The music... oh yes, this soundtrack will be mine.  It's just too bad that CocoeBiz won't carry this one; I'm not the biggest fan of Play-Asia.  Ah well... I made the sacrifice for the DeathSmiles OST, and it was worth it.

I jumped up about the news of the Gradius Rebirth soundtrack release. House album sounds interesting. Here's hoping it's modelled on Psyvariar The Mix rather than Gradius Remixes.

Abrahm Jan 26, 2009 (edited Jan 26, 2009)

So yeah.  Jan. 26 2009 is the release date listed at VGMDB.  Supposedly, Play-Asia is the only place where we can get it (ugh) .  Maybe I'm just impatient, but... any recent news on this?

Carl Jan 26, 2009

My only guess on the delay is that all the copies were bought up within Japan at the Comiket prerelease,  before PlayAsia got a chance to buy stock of their copies.

Pellasos Feb 4, 2009

im watching, but they still haven't gotten anything in yet. was there a reprint? i remember seeing the soundtrack twice in the spotlight on caves homepage.

Crash Feb 12, 2009

This is now up on the Play-Asia site, available for sale.  It says that it will ship on February 17.

Pellasos Feb 12, 2009

i was about to post this! smile

I received mine Saturday and gave it a listen.  Once again, Namiki impresses.  I can't (yet) say the compositions top those of DeathSmiles, but they're just as good, at the very least.  It's very different from DAI-OU-JOU, but Namiki sprinkled a few reminders throughout, letting us know that he also composed that soundtrack.

And he still makes the best 'stage clear' music.  smile

finally unpacked my copy today. looks really slick! tasty transparent looks for the liner notes, spine + CD.

great package, im happy.

Soto Mar 30, 2009

I actually like this one more than the Death Smiles OST, though this one has a completely different feel.  Kudo and Chiba make big impressions with their three tracks each, and I completely love Kudo's Longhena Cantata.  Too bad I missed getting a physical copy of this one.  sad

Chris Mar 30, 2009

Yeah, after relistening to this soundtrack today, I've got to join the Chiba and Kudo are amazing bandwagon. Pretty surprised that "Dividing Road of Fate" wasn't actually by Namiki; if there is another Mushihimesama, I vote Chiba should lead it. I think Kudo's "Darkening World" is my favourite though; just love the dense sound and tremendous energy. Love the final boss and ending themes too.

It's confirmed Namiki also did KONTORA Rebirth. Can anyone offer the rip?

Pellasos May 12, 2009

contra isnt even out yet.

Chris May 12, 2009

Out today in Japan. Thanks for the heads up, Cedille. After the lacklustre Gradius ReBirth, I can't say I'm excited about what he will offer here, but at least it could mean another soundtrack release for the Contra series. How about publishing the Neo Contra Original Soundtrack while you're at it, Konami?

Pellasos May 12, 2009

that was quick.

Over the years since the game's release I've tried to figure out the reason why it hasn't been published. It's silly, but I wonder if it has to do with the fact that it's Neo (as in "new") Contra and the game before it was called Shin (also as in "new") Contra in Japan. yikes I know, sometimes there just no explaining things. I mean, they could call it Shin Contra 2: Electric Boogaloo and I'd still buy at least 2 copies.

What was the Japanese version called, anyways?

Zane May 14, 2009

Holy shit, that sounds awesome! The tone reminds me of the Megadrive sound output, or like Yousuke Yasui's MD-ish arrangements from Trash 006 and Under Defeat: Extended Tracks. Maybe we'll get a soundtrack for this one, like Gradius Rebirth...

Is this Namiki? I've only heard Battle Garegga so I can't really tell.

Namiki's name was on the credit, so it's him. I think it's hard to tell who's the composer (arranger) regardless of how much you've heard, as the music is mostly reprised from the past Contra games (Super Contra, Contra III: The Alien Wars and Contra: Hard Corps) and Namiki even managed to use the same paramater of those Yamaha FM sound chip.
