Okay, the way I've discovered this problem is through the kanji dictionary for the DS, so it's unlikely that very many of you have seen exactly the same thing.

Anyway!

So in the kanji program, there are two screens at the bottom where you can write things to have the dictionary look them up.  The left screen is completely fine - I write stuff and it shows up as it's supposed to.  The right screen, on the other hand, has for a while now seemed to register my writing just slightly to the right of where I'm clicking.  I've also noticed that I occasionally get the wrong characters with the keyboard in Animal Crossing, and I SWEAR Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents have counted what should have been proper hits as misses on occasion.

I recalibrated the screen, and everything seems fine there... so I don't know exactly what the deal is.  I also haven't seen anything online about this specific kind of problem happening with DSes.  Has anyone else encountered or heard anything about weird touchscreen issues?  I may try to see if Nintendo tech support can do anything, but I'm less than confident about dealing with NoJ tech support...

Help!

Well, I can't say that I've experienced any problems like that, but I have dealt with NoA/NoC's customer service recently.

It seems that, over here, they have a system that allows them to record details about your problem before you actually send the product in, and I'm sure there's an even more efficient system in place over there, so you might want to try calling to see if you can find someone who speaks enough English to document your problem and give you some sort of ID number that you can include with your DS, should you have to send it in, instead of you trying to provide a written description for the tech to stare at.

And that was one heck of a long sentence.

-Edit-
Which kanji dictionary are you using? I've experienced a few minor, fairly rare, and totally random, quirks with mine (strokes that kinda extend to the right edge for no reason), but nothing nearly as consistent as what you've described.

Recalibrate again (and again and again...) until the problem goes away for you. While calibrating be sure to use the stylus just like you would in a (non-)game, many calibration "issues" not related to dust between the cover and the touchscreen were related to people holding the stylus upright while they never hold it that way outside the calibration screen.

Word, son. I get that a lot of the time. I always attributed it to overuse of the touch screen. The game, when played rigrously has been known to permanently damage screens.
