Since you're one of the few I know who has both systems, which one do you plan to get the above for and why?

However, I am curious as to how many imports you (and other folks around here) have? Also, do you own more than one of the same system?

I don't buy too many imports these days, but I did buy a small amount back when I was a hardcore gamer.  If memory serves:

SFC
-Seiken Densetsu 3
-Final Fantasy V
-Rockman & Forte

PSX
-Seiken Densetsu: Legend of Mana
-Rockman
-Rockman 2
-Rockman 3
-Rockman 4
-Rockman 5
-Rockman 6
-Castlevania Chronicle: Akumajou Dracula

N64
-F-Zero X

DC
-Shenmue II (European import)

GBA
-F-Zero for Game Boy Advance
-Shinyaku Seiken Densetsu
-F-Zero Climax
-Rhythm Tengoku

DS
-Ouendan
-Ouendan 2

So, as you can see, I mostly bought imports that either weren't coming here at all or I just wasn't willing to wait for them to come here.  Nowadays, I don't really mind waiting, but I'll still import stuff if it's not going to come here at all (see Rhythm Tengoku and Ouendan as recent examples).  I probably won't import any more RPGs even if they fit this criteria.  I want Mother 3 badly, but not badly enough to try playing it in Japanese.  I had my fill of that with all those SD games I imported.

I have never bought a second system just for imports, though I suppose I might have with PS2 or GameCube if there was a game on either of those that I had to have that wasn't released here.  As it turned out, there wasn't, so it worked out.

Honestly, whichever comes out first.  The rumor is that there will be a same-day release, so if that is the case then the 360 because I paid for XBL, I hope a friend will get it, and for the achievement points.  Although, for the multiplayer, I may get it on both because I have another friend who won't buy XBL and you can play on PSN for free, but I'll doubt he'll buy it.  So, 360, assuming it comes out first.

I've dropped Metroid Prime 3 from both rental and buying list---I've tried replaying Metroid Prime and I still have simulator sickness playing it.

Looks like I'll pick up The Simpsons season 10; Target has it for $29.99 but gives a $5 gift card.  I'm checking today to see if Best Buy will match that promotion.  I'm thinking that might be the last one I buy.  Anyone recall any special moments from season 11 or, other than 'completist' reasons, why it should be considered?

My local store just got 6 Wii Units in, so I bagged one yesterday ($250 + $15 Sales Tax).
Still Unopened, so if my brother's friend doesn't decide to buy it off me locally, I could sell it to you or another STC'er instead.

Thanks for the Target heads-up.  Seems like a good deal to me, considering I always end up buying my Simpsons sets at $34.99 or higher.

As for season 11, taking a look at The Simpsons Archive: Episode Guide reveals episodes far and few in between that I'd truly be interested in.  The one I'm looking forward to most is "Saddlesore Galactica," where the family adopts the race horse Furious-D(uncan).  That jockey song is too darned catchy!

I like the "Grift of the Magi" episode that features the sinister Funzo toy, but I actually own it on one of the Christmas-themed DVD releases.  "Pygmoelian" is pretty fun, where Moe gets a facelift and a starring role on a daytime soap opera.   And "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Marge," where the family adopts the ever-perfect Becky.  (And it features the band Poison!..... excuse me, Cyanide.)

I don't think I've seen any episodes of The Simpsons past season 8...

I can't say that I have either.  It's a lot of the same stuff, just parodies on current events and well, if you've seen a handful of seasons you've seen them all really.

Sadly, Best Buy doesn't match it, but I'll get it there anyway since I got one of those Reward Zone cards.  I'll try a different customer service rep Tuesday just in case.

If it weren't for Phil Hartman's final appearance, I'd pass on season 10.  Seems as if I can safely say I can pass season 11.  I know season 11 has the episode where they were "swordfighting" with motorcycles in place of swords... so stupid, as well as the death of Maude.

Edit: Jodo, have you read "The Anubis Gates" by Tim Powers?  Seems like something you'd enjoy...I know I am.  It's one of the most original and surreal sci-fi novels I've ever read, and I highly recommend it.  P.S. Don't read too much about the plot in advance or it'll ruin the surprises that spring up throughout the novel (I was going to post a link to the wikipedia entry for this book but it has way too many spoilers).

Never heard of it or Tim Powers. But there are thousands of authors and millions of books. I'll put it on my list. I did just finish all 7 books in the World of Tiers series by Philip Farmer; it gave me the idea of creating real video game worlds. Actually, years ago, I had envisioned playing Doom for real. But I never thought of actually creating a world that is the Doom video game. There is a difference, because with advanced technology you could create a Doom game here on Earth. And with even more advanced technology, make a world (or universe) that consists of nothing but Doom (no pun intended).

Really, to create a world is the ultimate in entertainment. I already envy people living thousands of years from now. If pitiful people like myself can think of this stuff now, then someone is making it in the future.

My brother has kindly informed me that Season 2 of The Muppet Show is finally coming out on DVD this week.
And I don't care how old that makes me sound...I want it. wink

Nice.  What sort of piano are you getting?  I have a royal cherry finish Baldwin 225E Artist Grand back at my parents' house, which still sits in my room -- now collecting dust and hasn't been tuned in an age.  But I remember the day I got it eighteen years ago; it was one of the greatest thrills and happiest days of my life.  We bought it second-hand from a student's mother at Hofstra University for about $12,000 in near-perfect condition; quite a steal, now that I think about it, since I've heard that even decently-refurbished models can fetch upwards to twice that.

I don't suppose the piano you're getting happens to be this:

heh, not too useful for classical pieces I imagine, but sure seems like a cool piece of music history!

cheers,

I just remembered this myself last week and I couldn't resist going out and getting Season 1 on DVD so I'm going through that while I wait for S2 to come out.

*GASP*

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, ANGELA, TUNE THE PIANO! TUNE THE PIANOOOOOOOOOOOO! *tortured sob*

(I shouldn't be talking. My upright hasn't been tuned in a decade...)

I'd say it's roughly the same size as that one... except the finish isn't nearly as good, being pitch black and all. wink I went to Sherman and Clay to check out their collection and I fell in love with the piano I'm getting. One of those situations where you start playing and you refuse to play the others because you know that it's the one.

The biggest challenge is going to be making room for it in the apartment. I might have to move my television (and all the videogames) into my bedroom. Although that has its own temptations (playing games in bed! Watching movies in bed!).

Avatar: No, it's definitely not that one. tongue
