Good, I was wondering about Neo Geo games. Definitely a piece of history worth preserving there. Sad thing is, you could probably buy every game ever made for the system on VC for the cost of 1-2 actual carts...
Looking at screenshots of the Neo Geo game Garou: Mark of the Wolves. For a system that came out in 1990, that looks like it was really powerful back then.

Neo Geo is to this day considered by many to be the most powerful 2-D system ever.

What about the Saturn? Does the Saturn compare at all to the Neo Geo?
I ask because many, if not all, of the cross-console 2-D fighters and shooters that were out at the time worked much better on the Saturn than they did on PSX.

definitely, Neo Geo/Saturn/Dreamcast ~ the big trio of 2-D ultimate goodness ^^
Well, the Saturn was built as a 2D machine, so it's not much of a surprise that it outclasses the PSX on 2D games.
Where does the PC-FX rank among the 2D systems? Or is too hard to tell since 80% of the games were anime/dating sims?
Sin & Punishment is a game I've wanted to play for a LONG time! I hope it comes out here in the US, but I'm not holding my breath...
cheers,

For the record, it works fine on emulator.
Though, I didn't find it all that good myself...

Sin and Punishment is one of the sickest, most underrated games ever. I broke down and bought an N64 just for that game when it came out. It's one of the perhaps four (?) that I own for that system.

Add me to the list of people eagerly anticipating a U.S. VC release of Sin & Punishment. Only played a level or two from it back at Nintendo's Space World show way back in the day but it was slick stuff. Kind of Panzer Dragoon with less flying and more guns, and I love my Panzer Dragoon
Sin & Punishment would be a fantastic addition to the U.S. library to demonstrate the possibility of scope and expansion of versatility of games that, say, never made it here because of production costs versus lack of audience to eat it up. Of course, when you enter overseas staff costs (like translating), it brings along the same original challenges evident before the hinders of just the costly cartridge format and such (like manuals, boxes, etc.).
I only played S&P on an emulator (after passing up many attempts to buy the import version). Liked the music a lot, but couldn't really get into the game (apart language barrier). Games don't feel the same to me on an emu as opposed to the home entertainment.
With Neo Geo support coming to VC, maybe we can at least hope for Sega Saturn one day?
Eh, Sin & Punishment was rated by the Australian gaming board. If Australia gets it, Europe gets it (they get the same releases at the same time with the exception of catching up with TG16 releases), and so there would be no reason not to have a NA release.
Treasure's Sin & Punishment is definitely one awesome ride, last boss..really stunning what N64 was capable of.
they should also port other Treasure underrated hit that came to N64 back in the day - Bangai-oh! (it was ported to Dreamcast) but on VC would be nice too.
I read Bangai-oh is coming to the DS, but I would much prefer it on a console.
The aircraft carrier area in Sin and Punishment is pretty much jaw-dropping considering it's the N64. At some point we got to a thing on a train that we couldn't get through, though. That stopped the playthrough I was doing, since I couldn't find any FAQ online that explained what we were supposed to do. There was like a mass of... little ball things or something? It's been a while.
