Is anyone picking up the new PSP Slim this month?  I'll wait it out to see what others thinks of it, but I'd definitely opt for the Ice Silver, even if I have to pony up for the Entertainment Pack.  I'm going to want to try out Dewy's Adventure, and if Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party turns up with a couple of good review, I'll likely check that out too.  On the DS front, there's Sonic Rush Adventure, which is looking pretty sweet; even if it's half as good as its predecessor, I'll be happy. (And fewer bottomless pits should be a godsent to all.)  I did enjoy King of Swing quite a bit, so DK: Jungle Climber will be an eventual purchase.  And I've heard some unique things about Drawn To Life; if its execution turns out better than it is on paper (I think I made an unintentional pun of sorts just now) I'd imagine I'd like to give it a whirl.  It sounds like a more fleshed out Yoshi Touch 'n Go.

The Singstar series is a complete trainwreck, at least as far as Pop and Rocks are concerned.  I haven't been so disappointed in video games like these in a great while.

Absolutely nothing. I didn't get my bills for the computer and my phone for the last two months, but then, yesterday, I was spammed with them all at once, destroying my savings.

Red HamsterX Sep 1, 2007

Well, it looks like the only thing on my list for September is Growlanser V, but I've got a lot for October.

And, while this isn't the right thread, two interesting listings are in Play-Asia's pre-order catalogue with Octoberly dates:
-http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-na-49-en-70-26f0.html (Ar_tonelico 2 OST)
-http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-na-49-en-70-28gx.html (Odin Sphere OST)

I will be picking it up *IF* I can actually find it.  The only place I can find that's even taking pre-orders for the unbundled Black version (I don't want any freaking Daxter game, thank you very much!) is Amazon.com, and I'm not entirely comfortably ordering something that delicate from them since they can't even ship CDs to me without smashing up the jewel cases, so I just ordered a 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo instead with the hopes that I'll be able to find the system in an actual store sometime between now and 10/24 when Dracula X hits stores.  Similarly, there's absolutely no word on the existence of the cable that connects the thing to a TV.  Sony's U.S. Playstation website doesn't even list is as a PSP accessory (or the new model of the system for that matter).  I was hoping Sony was going to use this new hardware to spark interest in the system, but I'm starting to get the feeling they're trying to keep it quiet until all of the old PSPs sell through the channels.

My best friend is getting a DS Lite and giving me his DS so I'll be cruising the used (and new) games lot pretty soon. Suggestions? wink

Cover all of your bases with the DS' top titles:

-Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (skip Portrait unless you're a diehard Metroivania fan)
-Mario Kart DS
-Planet Puzzle League
-Picross DS
-Phoenix Wright (start with the first one)
-Ouendan (pick any of the three, inc. EBA)
-New SMB
-Super Princess Peach
-Brain Age (either one is good, but the first is easier)

Ashley Winchester Sep 1, 2007 (edited Sep 1, 2007)

I would like to pick up the second season of Robot Chicken but I can honestly wait for a price drop like I did with the first season, which I think I paid around $14 for. Not saying it's not worth full price but the fact episodes always seem to be over before they begin makes it hard for me to justify paying full price.

Season two might be the last season I buy anyway, I haven't been too fond of what I've seen of season three so far. Skectches are seeming to fall flat at a much higher ratio than before but then it could just be me.

Among a few of those (including Portrait of Ruin), I also like Advance Wars DS, Mario & Luigi, and Tetris DS.

GoldfishX Sep 1, 2007 (edited Sep 1, 2007)

Adding Meteos and Sonic Rush to the list (I'd be getting Sonic Rush Adventure this month if I could actually beat this one...It's hard!) and seconding New SMB, Tetris DS and Planet Puzzle as some of the system's top dogs (though I pretty much agree with everything that's been said as being a solid buy, those last three make the purchase worth it alone for me. I haven't played Tetris seriously in years until after playing it on wifi and getting my ass handed to me...Remember to HOLD pieces in this one!).

If you're a shmup fan, you'll want to check out Nanostray as well.  (Where's my Nanostray 2, by the way??)

Also, I'm adding one more thing for my list of purchases this month.  I seriously doubt it's really going to be 800 pages, but I still want this BAD:

Gyakuten Saiban Art Book:

Wanderer Sep 2, 2007

Wow. I didn't think the DS had that many quality games on it! yikes Clearly, I'm going to be having a lot of fun with this thing. Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

Jeezus, hell. I really enjoyed Phoenix Wright 1, but Justice for All made me a true fan. I'll definitely be acquiring this somehow.

While I have people's attention, how are Yoshi's Island DS (The SNES original is one of my favorite games) and Metroid Prime Hunters?

I think Yoshi's Island DS is quite underrated.  I know it's not as good as the original, but it's still quite a solid effort.  I felt more compelled to play it than I did New Super Mario Bros..  Super Princess Peach probably ended up being my favorite of the 2D Nintendo platformers for the system, though, despite its relative ease.

You're gonna fall head over heels for Trials And Tribulations, believe me.  ^_^

The e-Capcom store reveals a few more details about the book. The set is apparently split over two volumes, totaling 240 pages (160 + 80) in A4 format, and held in a special binding case. In addition to conceptual and final artwork, there will be a number of pieces drawn exclusively for the book itself:

The Office Season 3 on DVD. I've been waiting all summer for that.

Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow: I didn't like this one as much as Aria, but it's still very good.

Clubhouse Games: The ultimate time waster and excellent morning/evening commute game. I've probably tossed about 30 hours on Solitaire alone.

New Super Mario Bros.: I enjoyed the single player a lot, although I've heard a lot of differing opinions. The multiplayer in this is fantastic.

Picross DS: Addictive brain-buster. Easily worth the $20, and then some.

Phoenix Wright AA/JFA: Having a game with so much character is rare, never mind two of them. Great music, too.

Tetris DS: It's Tetris.

In my opinion, neither are worth your money.  Although not a bad game per se, Prime Hunters is an FPS, not a "true" Metroid game with exploration elements, but the real deal killer is that it is simply physically uncomfortable to play.  As for Yoshi's Island DS, it's a huge disappointment.  Not only are New SMB and Super Princess Peach much better, the DS Kirby game is a lot better as well, so you've got plenty of superior choices in the 2D platform realm.

I'm looking forward to this one, but I'm so far only renting it, not buying it.  I'm also renting Warriors Orochi on 360, and on Wii MySims and Dewy's Adventure.  Considering all the DVDs I'm buying this month, it's nice to know there isn't a single game I'd want to buy.

They may, if they follow the Grand Theft Auto PSP/PS2 release strategy. They may not though...Isn't Konami known for making rare versions of games (that are usually really good) for isolated systems.  (The original Dracula X for PC Engine, comes to mind)

I will wait and see, as I can't justify buying a new PSP (for the TV Connector, which is a requirement). Plus,  I have a homebrew configuration on my current PSP, which will most certainly be wiped if I choose to play Dracula X, or any recent game for that matter.

Anyone have a PSP top ten?

Depends on if I can count ports/remakes or not. Even WITH ports...Probably not. ;p Especially since my RPG time/interest has dwindled. But Gurumin, Princess Crown (import) and the Megaman remakes are at least compelling and I have a soft spot for the Legend of Heroes games. And they really should be packaging the Valkyrie Profile port in with each system...It's just that good.

I'm seriously debating if I'm just better off hunting down a copy of the damn PC Engine Dracula X and saving myself the cost of the system in the long run.

Konami also made Bloodlines (and Contra Hard Corps) for the Genesis and Snatcher for the Sega CD, so they spread themselves around pretty good.

Haha, exactly - with ports I can easily name 10 games, without them I'd really be stretching it.

I'm still somewhat shocked that Metal Slug Anthology wasn't released on Xbox1/X360, I'm guessing Samurai Shodown 5 didn't sell well, even at the very fair price of $30?
MS3 on Xbox1 was an excellent port as well, as it kept the stereo audio intact, unlike 4&5..

No, all I have is Capcom Puzzle World and Powerstone Collection.  I'm looking forward to quite a few games that I anticipate will make the system worthwhile, such as the aforementioned Dracula X Chronicles, as well as God of War and the expanded Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions and Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness.

Here goes:

1.  Loco Roco
2.  Daxter
3.  Ratchet & Clank:  Size Matters
4:  Gurumin
5:  Valkyrie Profile (the psp release)
6:  Lumines 1 (forget the second one)
7:  Jeanne D'Arc
8:  Popolocrois
9:  Puzzle Quest
10:  Brave Story:  New Traveler.

Have fun!

Let's also not forget Konami's PSP exclusive MGS: Portable Ops.

brandonk wrote:

Afraid not.  I own the following five PSP games, but the only one of them I've actually played is Loco Roco: Gurumin, Loco Roco, MM: PU, MMX: MHX, and MGS:PO.  Dracula X will probably be my sixth and possibly last PSP game unless the release schedule for the system gets some new life.

Shiro Sagisu / Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone (KICA-887). Preordered it today, before seeing a tracklist but I'm certain it's going be a quality "arrangement" disc.

This first act of "Rebuild"/1.0 is reportedly only a little more than a recap of the first bunch of episodes with CG, added scenes and such (all leading up to the new finale/4.0). Either way, it's Shiro Sagisu: the music is new, arranged, and then some. They had better include the new version of "Fly Me To the Moon" on there...

Ugh, "Fly Me to the Moon", I can't even describe my feelings about that song... but thanks for the heads-up about this!  I didn't even know about the cd release.  As for the theatrical release, when is that?  I hope someone brings it to the US (either in theaters or direct to home video) and that it doesn't take long to get here.

The theatrical release was September 1, 2007 in Japan and the soundtrack will be rolling out by month's end; 26th to be exact. There are no plans for the release here (yet) but I can guarantee it will be coming straight to DVD when it does (from ADV?). A review I read was rather favorable but cautioned the audiences that there's not much new to vets of the series apart from glitzy CG enhancements and, of course, the newly added footage.

I can't help it, I'm very excited to see the series revived with hopes of one more ending (as if the two before were not enough).
