Some people are just never satisfied.
In certain aspects of life, I suppose you're right. I sometimes see dissatisfaction as a good thing, though -- it's a trait that, consequently, leads to the strive for perfection. Or, as Tom Keller in the Ratatouille featurette puts it, the strive for the quest for perfection.
In this case, I just thought it was a disservice to the makers and fans alike that these excellent films didn't get the making-of showcasings they deserved.
The version of Knick Knack on that shorts collection is apparently the 'special edition' modified version that went out with Finding Nemo. I wonder what the problem is - http://mymedicatedlife.blogspot.com/
I read about that a while ago. I dug out a VHS tape I had of the old version of Knick Knack, and I can sort of see why they chose to tone it down for current subsequent versions. She was rather large, and considering that Finding Nemo is meant to appeal to the kids..... And then they likely just decided to go with the higher-res quality of the censored version for the Shorts Collection.
Disney has been deliberately withholding extras on DVDs, hoping instead to release 2-disc sets years later at inflated prices.
I suspected as much, hence the mini-rant I partook in. It's a bit infuriating to know that they're clearly on the way, and that I'll likely be sucking up for the cost for the double-dip when it happens. But, the marketing machine must roll on..... and roll on it will.
Ryu, did you check out CARS on Blu-ray yet? Your opinion?
