Summer is officially here! Time to go hiking, swimming, rowing, biking... and in the evening study physics and conduct research on the evolution of dynamical properties near the central black hole! I suppose most people might skip that last part and go right to playing video games tongue

So, what is your gaming plan for the summer? Myself, I would like to actually finish Etrain Odyssey. What else... I would finally like to finish Odin Sphere, which I'll post my thoughts on once I'm done. What about you?

cheers,

This summer I plan on finishing:

Mana-Khemia
Metal Gear Solid 4

Aside from that, not too much in the gaming world for me...

Wanderer Jun 2, 2008

I need to finish Metroid Prime 3, GTAIV, get all the stars in Mario Galaxy and FINALLY obtain Lost Odyssey. And that's just the so-called next-gen consoles. My list on the DS is staggering. wink

SquareTex Jun 2, 2008 (edited Jun 2, 2008)

Well, I got my hands on Silent Hill 0rigins finally (PS2), and I'm quite enjoying that right now. Makes me think that perhaps I should finally get around to finishing SH4.

But y'see, it's stacking up. SH0 has taken over Okami (Wii), which stole my attention from Ikaruga (GC) (although Opoona managed to break free), which had drawn me away from Final Fantasy XII, etc etc etc...

...and let's not get into what's still unfinished on my DS, and what is singing me siren songs from the Wii Shop Channel! big_smile

A real mess, I tell you. wink

Zane Jun 2, 2008

Nothing new, that's for sure. I'll probably casually play some SNES here and there, but my main gaming goal this summer is to get 100% in SSX 3 with my favorite character (Elise), then go through my usual gaming cycle. A replay of RE4 here, some SH2 there, a little Sly Cooper and killer7 on the side. See, that's the thing about being happy with the games I have - I don't really need to look forward to much because I'm still excited about all the games I have on my shelf. Maybe I'll even dust off MGS3 and give that another go!

shdwrlm3 Jun 2, 2008

I'm in an adventuring spirit, so first I'll try to finally tackle Ace Attorneys 2 and 3. I'm also planning on replaying some of my favorite LucasArts adventures. I finished Fate of Atlantis already, so I'm thinking The Dig or Sam & Max next.

If I can find them on sale, I'll also pick up Warriors Orochi and Samurai Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends to complete my shamefully large collection.

Oh, and I really have to play through Ratchet & Clank 3.

Angela Jun 2, 2008 (edited Jun 2, 2008)

Summer '08 is actually looking really eventful as far as gaming goes; a rarity, considering the dry spell the season is traditionally known for.  In addition to letting Metal Gear Solid 4 bang me into bliss every single day, there's Lego Indiana Jones to look forward to, as well as the two new Guitar Hero titles, Bionic Commando Rearmed,  Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon, Soul Calibur IV, Final Fantasy IV DS, Rhythm Tengoku Gold, Bangai-O Spirits, and Samba de Amigo.

I've got some DS titles on the backburner that needs tending to, specifically Front Mission, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, and Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword.  I may eventually make the jump to Rock Band as well.

GoldfishX Jun 2, 2008 (edited Jun 2, 2008)

More of the same...Will probably do more Xbox Live stuff. See if Ace Combat 6 is worth getting excited over. Might even go for some Growlanser III and finish that one off (that was basically the only unfinished RPG I kept after my sale). And FFIV DS...I'm mildly intrigued is all I'll say.

Finally getting to play some Rock Band with people on a normal basis and it makes a world of difference compared to the 1p mode. Had a moment...I did real lousy on a song (Enter Sandman) with the Fender, then I told this guy if I switched to the GH controller, I'd tear it up. He didn't believe me, but he swapped controllers with me. Next time around, except for the solo, I basically perfected it. I just looked at the GH controller afterwards and just said, "Told ya...World of f---ing difference."

Needless to say, GH Aerosmith is on the radar. Although I'm a little worried...The Run DMC Walk This Way is the only version announced so far. Considering the original is the only Aerosmith song I have on my iPod, I just have to hope the songs are fun to play.

Also need more Meta Knight and Pit action...Brawl may seem like a rehash, but it is a blast.

Carl Jun 2, 2008 (edited Jun 2, 2008)

Wii Fit, and maybe some shooters like Umbrella Chronicles or House of the Dead 2&3 combo...  I'll probably rent DQ Swords and give that a spin...

man, I haven't even opened Etrian Odyssey on the DS yet either.

rein Jun 2, 2008

Finally slog through Xenogears 10 years after I started the game.

Maybe.

the_miker Jun 2, 2008

Catching up on some older games I never really played, cause you know, that's when games were actually good.  Just went through Resident Evil 1-3 on PlayStation and man that was quite a treat.  I'm playing through the first Devil May Cry right now.  Planning on devoting night and day to MGS4 until it's beaten in less than two weeks.  After that, going back to RE with Code Veronica, RE0, and maybe the REmake for GameCube.  After that, who knows.  Maybe continue with the Phoenix Wright series as I only finished the first one and barely started Justice for All.  I've gotta really sit down and give Okami a shot too cause that game looks so unique it's not even funny.  Shadow Hearts FTNW is another game I'd like to get through since I loved the other two games in the series.

Let's hear some suggestions on older games to play!  Preferably something dark with an excellent plot and soundtrack. wink

Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 and Castlevania 3.

Seriously, maybe I'll get around to finishing CV4 sometime...And yeah, and Super Ghouls and Ghosts *cringe*.

Almost forgot...I need to pick up that SNK compilation this month.

UMBRELLA CHRONS plays more like one of them old Sega-Cd FMV nonsensicals than a real shooter game, don't waste your money on it.
HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2&3 is excellent though, i was hoping the first game would unlock after beating both of them but it didn't happen. Maybe if you can manage to beat HotD2 in Arcade Mode it becomes available? (i could only beat Original Mode)

And HotD3 has one of the best lines from Lisa when you beat the Sun,

'I never was any good at..Gardening..'

No new games here.

I'm currently playing through WA2 again and I'm really glad I still dig it... I was kind of afraid to play it becuase I thought the magic be gone and I be tempted to sell it. Nope. Totally keeping it. Best $14.99 I ever spent.

After that I was thinking of poping the original Wild Arms in my PS1 since the thing likes to freeze on PS2's when the characters hop into frame in battle (that's the only reason I still have a PS1). Also some of the more fun quests on SaGa Frontier like Red, Blue, Emelia, and T26OG (no Riki, oh lord no!)

I like miker's idea about RE, I definately should pop in RE2 at some point... played it countless times and it still doesn't get old. Leon: "Ada Wait!"

For one I'll be spending a LOT of time fighting online on GGPO and 2DF... accepting all challengers in SamSho2 and Bakumatsu 2.

I'd like to finish Einhaender soon... I've been working closer and closer to that 1cc but no dice yet.  If I finish that before leaving for home (at university right now) I'll practise some 3S to have more competition with my friends here.

Once I get back, it'll be finishing Perfect Dark PA, starting Odin Sphere, doing another run of DKC smile  Hopefully I'll have time to do other things to (play Valkyrie Profile 2 or FF XII since I haven't touched either.)

XISMZERO Jun 3, 2008 (edited Jun 5, 2008)

Continuing through my games regressive tour de Spring-Summer 2008: started with Mario RPG, then Zelda Link to the Past and now Goemon (Mystical Ninja, N64). Not sure what's next, but as far as new games I still have to pick up No More Heroes.

just finished MGS1, now in the middle of part 2. after this on to 3 and Portable Ops to get ready for 4. yea, im getting excited wink

after these, im going to start the phoenix wright games and trying to get through XeXeX on one credit. should be enough to keep me busy for a while.

Idolores Jun 3, 2008

Just going to be grinding in Pokemon Diamond until I get my ideal team.

I don't have a PS3 (No new ZOE means I am Sonyless for this generation), and with RE5, Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2 lightyears away, I don't think my 360'll be getting much love.

Wait, wait. They DO have Gundam: Operation Troy coming out, that might be cool . . .

Damn, mang. I am right at the end of Odin Sphere (I don't care what anyone says. Mercedes chapter was a bitch to play through), and Bully still needs to be beaten. I've also got Final Fantasy XII on the backburner along with Suiko series 2-5. Metroid Prime 3 really hasn't impressed me enough to finish it, and I've borderline lost interest in Mario Galaxy. I really wanted to buy Okami Wii, but what's the point? I've been through the game three times now.

I did jump on the MGS Essential Collection, but immediately regretted it; I played the hell out of them all before, so buying this was essentially worthless.

I did find Eternal Darkness for the 'Cube for really cheap (not even $10), so I'll likely be finishing that.

Oh, and Skies of Arcadia. My friend and I are doing that one, too.

It's not old, but if you want something with a dark storyline, a truly superb story, and one of the best soundtracks in years (in my opinion of course), then you need Odin Sphere! I just finished it (100%), and will write a little review later smile

The least Konami USA could've done for this collection was use the japaness voice acting instead, the same way Integral, Substance, etc. gave JPN fans the opportunity to hear our versions..

And why didn't they use the GameCube version of the first game instead? Since its code was originally written for the ps2 Sons of Liberty, Twin Snakes probably could've run on the ps2 without most/all of the slowdown that plagues the Cube version.

My only guess is that Nintendo's contract with Konami forbids them from releasing it on any other system, maybe?

Could be. I know that there are some Nintendo-specific references in TS; something like a Mario doll in the room where you first fight the Ninja, etc. Of course it's not a Nintendo game unless there's some useless self-reference!

I would like to say that I will finish Zack & Wiki, Ace Attorney 2, and Professor Layton.  I would like to say that I will finally play through Xenosaga Ep3 and put that series to bed.

Of course, we all know that's not going to happen.  In reality, the only game I'm comitting to finish is MGS4.  I'll probably end up with some digital games (Eternity's Child perhaps) and mess with those, and in all likelihood I'll be getting Rhythm Tengoku Gold (despite my current hesitance), so I'll probably kill some time with that as well.  FF4 DS I will play for about an hour and then shelve, and I haven't decided if Samba Wii is something I will pick up yet or not, though I can't imagine it occupying a ton of my time if I do.  I probably won't have a system to play Bionic Commando Rearmed on (assuming that actually releases this summer), so that's probably something I won't end up purchasing until late this year or early next.

Yeah, that happened last night. I booted it up just to have some fun and then three hours later I'm into Operation Snake Eater going for a no alert/no kill game. Whoops!

I really want to dig into a good moden rpg again. It's been ages and consequently I have no idea what is good nowadays...I just want great exploration, music and story, not too many random encounters and not too long of a game. Thinking of FFXII, Oblivion, DQVIII or Persona 3. FFXII seems the best to me. But...I will most probabely stick to Mario Kart Wii:)

Yeah, for some reason, I just stopped playing P3.  Couldn't really tell you why.

The plan for the summer is to finish the Atelier Iris series.  I got the first one from McCall, and the second from Goozex.  Just waiting to either buy the third or get it from goozex also.

Also, learning the fighting system of Arcana Heart would be nice.  (I can't get past the first person in story mode sad)

Oh, man. You gotta. It's the best CV out there! I still play that to completion every several weeks because it's so damn good.

I think I'm going to FINALLY finish Zelda: Oracle of Ages. Then do a couple hundred-level dungeons to level up in Super Paper Mario....Do a few echochrome puzzles... continue with the weekly Layton puzzles...finally break out Wii Fit...and start on a yet-to-be determined GBA game.

So yeah, modest plan.s
