I've been reading the old Fleming books pretty intensely lately... it's amazing what a different world that was.

Thought this kind of news wasn't quite worthy of an entirely new thread, but it's still pretty newsworthy.  It's looking like Sam Mendes (The Road To Perdition, Revolutionary Road) is set to direct Bond 23.  Could be a promising choice:

I was secretly hoping Martin Campbell would return, given his stellar work on Golden Eye and Casino Royale.  But at this point, I believe anyone would be better than Forster -- the more I watch Quantum of Solace, the more I hate it.

I seem to recall Daniel Craig saying that he wasn't going to three Bond movies somewhere in between doing Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace... when did that change?  I don't remember that ever being in the press anywhere that he had changed his mind.

My understanding is that he is going to do four films, but I'm not sure where I got that from.

Wasn't he contracted to do five films from the very start? 

At the very least, we know he'll be onboard for Bond 23:
