Maybe it's because I was only 4 at the time, or maybe it's because it was my very first moments with a video game, but that entire experience is burned in my brain as the best part of any game I've played thus far. Just think of it - this is back when moving sideways was revolutionary. Hitting a block and getting a super mushroom was something that made me jump with excitement. Dropping down into that pipe to get those bonus coins - well, holy shit.
So, yeah. Best video game level ever.
Oh man, I remember the first time I played Zelda...
Talk about unreal experience! It seemed so magical. To this day, I still think that the original Zelda, which was not story driven but pure exploration, is one of the greatest games ever!
Anyway, there's no one scene in one game that sticks in my mind more than anything else. Rather, it's the journey. I do have to wonder, will anything ever be as magical as the original PC RPGs (Might and Magic III, Ultima V & VII) and NES games? I'm thinking no...

ps Shoe, I'm just curious, are you really trying to break the world record in most posts on STC?
