Someone recently gave this, 2004's Preludio -For All of You FF Lovers-, to me as a gift. As far as doujin albums go, it's pretty terrific. Fine selection, tight melodic guitar and synth arrangement work, and some sweet improvisation.
It's a generally energetic power rock affair, which is refreshing from the hair metal/heavy metal norm of these FF doujin CDs. It's consistent, and just an enjoyable listen for its forty minute duration. Sample the full album via Youtube:

FFIX's Battle 1 is one of my personal faves; the way it mixes in that brief melodic strain from Living By The Blade is a delectible treat, as is the way they snuck FFV's Main Theme/The Day Will Come into the relaxing acoustics and piano flourishes of FFIV's Theme of Love. The single FF USA/Mystic Quest arrangement, a suite of the three battle themes in Battle 1 ~ Battle 3, is a welcome addition, but the biggest surprise comes from the FFV track Through The Snowy Mountains. Wow, talk about a seldom-visited track excelling beyond its original source. It elevates the song into a delightfully rockin' masterpiece, and as a bonus, an equally excellent arrangement of FFII's Rebel Army Theme caps off the track, making this, to me, the true centerpiece of the album.
