Silent Hill Experience, for the PSP...
Not sure what to make of it.  Seems like a $20 promotional piece for the upcoming movie.  However, I'm curious if it has the movies from the original Silent Hill games?  Supposedly it does...
Anyone "played" this?  Impressions?

cheers,

Also, in October, there will be a new Silent Hill...sort of... that is subtitled "Original Sin."  The Magic Box claims it is a remake of the first.

Hmm... is there any more info on it?  Screen shots, anything?

I doubt Konami will say much more until E3, although I'm surprised at all they announced; here is what Magic Box said:  "Konami announced Silent Hill: Original Sin for PSP, a remake of the first Silent Hill title for PSone. The game will be released in October 2006."  Gamesarefun said:  "But now the really interesting stuff begins, starting with Silent Hill: Original Sin for the PSP. Considering the subtitle, this would appear to be a remake of the first game in the series, but nothing is certain yet. In any case, the title has a tentative release date of October 18, 2006."

Here's the GAF article:  http://gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=6207

The-Magic Box also has info on Ace Combat PSP as well as pictures of Final Fantasy III on DS (amongst DS announcements):  http://the-magicbox.com/gaming.htm

If you want a bit of rumor to go along with the announcement, here's Wiki's write-up on the Silent Hill remake and what it may have to do with the movie:  "In a recent issue of Fangoria magazine, during an interview with Christophe Gans, it was revealed that Team SILENT are currently planning a remake of the original Silent Hill "for the near future." It will feature the character of Rose in the title role, replacing the original lead, Harry Mason. It is as yet unclear what other elements will be lifted from the Silent Hill feature film for the videogame remake, but it is speculated that some new monsters featured in the film will also be utilized.

The above has been confirmed as just a rumor, and team silent has no plans to remake the game with or without Rose. Some wonder if this rumored Silent Hill remake (which is apparently planned for the PSP) is confused with the future fifth installement of the series.

A recently leaked Konami game schedule for 2006 (courtesy of pspcave.com) suggests that there will be a game titled Silent Hill: Original Sin coming to the PSP on October 18th, 2006. This title will be an actual Silent Hill title, with the style of gameplay for which the series is known for.

This title is NOT to be confused with the already released Silent Hill Experience. However, Silent Hill: Original Sin is rumored to be the remake of the original Silent Hill."

Interesting, thanks Ryu.
Personally, I just can't see myself buying a PSP just for Silent Hill.  I'm also not sure that horror games are so effective on handhelds...by "not so sure" I mean I sincerely doubt it!

I agree... I don't see how the tiny screen and speakers can really have an effective atmosphere, especially compared to what I have here.  Definitely not a system seller for me either.

If Original Sin indeed turns out to be a remake of the first game, that may be one more reason for me to finally pick up a PSP -- having, after all, never played the original proper.  The other reason being, of course, this. :)

Speaking of Silent Hill, me thinks I'd best brush up on President Evil's Plot Guide, before heading into the theaters this Friday.  The movie, after all, is loosely adapted from the first title, is it not?

Pretty much, from what I've heard, but it incorporates enemy types/personas from the entire series, including a big scare from SH2. I guess the story is very similar, but Harr's role is being reprised by a woman. Either way, huge boners for the movie. I can't wait.

I'm going to pick up the SH Experience as soon as I can. I don't think it's coming out until June, though? That's what Amazon says, at least, even though Gamestop says it ships within 24 hours. O_o

Best Buy's website shows that it was released this past week, though it doesn't seem to be available for in-store pick-up.  I'm tempted to buy it, but I wonder if the content is worth it.  Those comics were really, really terrible.
