Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix(TM) interactive entertainment products in North America, will have on display entertainment experiences for all platforms at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) to be held May 10-12 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in South Hall, Booth #746. Square Enix will hold a preview event and reveal special product announcements during its press briefing on Monday, May 8.

"E3 attendees will be immersed in Square Enix's most diverse line-up ever," said Daishiro Okada, President and COO, Square Enix, Inc. "We're evolving and growing, extending the Square Enix brand beyond video games to a variety of entertainment vehicles and a broader consumer base bridging the generation and gender gap. DAWN OF MANA (PS2)
Dawn of Mana(TM), the first true Mana sequel in a decade, reveals the origins of the legend behind the Mana Tree and the Sword of Mana(TM). Breaking the series' 2D mold, Dawn of Mana brings the world of Mana to three-dimensional life while preserving the atmosphere that fans have come to know and love. Players can see for themselves how vividly characters and monsters move about these new yet familiar surroundings. This installment of the Mana is a true action-adventure, with sweeping plains and mountains stretching as far as the eye can see. It's a world ripe for adventure!

A World of Sensation:
"Touch" is the theme of Dawn of Mana's world. You can virtually feel realistically rendered, lifelike objects.

The release date for Dawn of Mana will be announced at a later time. Dawn of Mana has not yet been rated by the ESRB. This title has not yet been concept approved by Sony Computer Entertainment America.

DIRGE OF CERBERUS -FINAL FANTASY VII- (PS2)
Three years after the events of FINAL FANTASY(R) VII, an unknown group of seemingly unstoppable soldiers appears, bringing a swift and bitter end to the peace enjoyed by the people of the world. The members of this enigmatic group are the ones who were trapped under the ruins of Midgar for three long years -- the Deepground soldiers. Vincent Valentine finds himself pursued by several elite members of the mysterious Deepground organization. An unrelenting chain of events leads Vincent to the truth behind his past -- and forces him once again to be the key player in a battle for the planet itself and all those living on it.

FINAL FANTASY XII (PS2)

Two years after the fall of Dalmasca, the citizens are without guidance and direction. In the capital city of Rabanastre, the denizens gather and await the introduction of Archadia's new consul. VALKYRIE PROFILE 2: SILMERIA (PS2)
Hundreds of years before Lenneth's tale, another saga lies concealed by the gods. The valkyrie Silmeria once served Odin loyally, but after an incident ignited a conflict between them, Odin forcefully reincarnated her as a human. The human soul that would carry her spirit was that of Alicia, Princess of Dipan. Ordinarily, Silmeria's consciousness would have been sealed, her spirit dormant until she was next summoned. However, the forced transmigration causes Silmeria's spirit to awaken within Alicia, leaving two souls to inhabit a single body. The spirit that should have been sealed has awakened -- a situation Odin will not ignore for long.

Photon Action System:

Now it's speculation time.  I would presume that all the above titles are going to be playable.  So what will be on video?  Will Squenix ever show Crisis Core?  Crystal Chronicles Revolution?  EGM seems to think FFXIII will be on video and other publications belive Squenix will show its next gen MMORPG.

Also of note are no mentions of American releases for Full Metal Alchemist 3, Code Age Commanders, or Front Mission 5.  Seeing Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest 2 on the list was definitely a surprise, though.  Also, it's good to see that FF3, 5 and 6 are all scheduled to be released in the U.S. this year.

I can't believe America is actually getting Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest 2.  I've not heard anything bad about that game, I don't think.  Yet something else to pick up for the DS!  big_smile

Ehhh... the only thing coming from Square that interests me these days is their old games!  Especially FF V and III, since I never got to play those.   Not sure I'll like them, not even sure I'll play them to completion, but since (in my opinion) Square did their best work during the glory SNES days, they might be great!  I'll wait and see...
oh, and maybe the Dragon Quest Slime thingy...maybe... but I consider that more Enix than Square smile

It BETTER be "concept approved" or there's going to be some bloody battles happening in real life. The best part about the Square-Enix thing is that the games from the Enix side can actually get something resembling a push and isn't going against the FF sales juggernaut (as opposed to the niche response the original VP got, when Enix released it on their own against FF9...Thankfully, that one's getting a second chance). Look what happened with Dragon Warrior 8.

Port-wise, FFIV Advance was hit-or-miss and I'm starting to get skeptical how more advanced games than that will run (or maybe the "first strike" aspect was pre-planned) If VI does somehow manage to be remotely playable, I'm definitely looking forward to the new stuff, considering I've skinned every secret imaginable out of that game.

And now that I have a DS (Note to anyone who's read my rants on the thing before: Shut up with the "I told you so's" before they start! I got it for Peach and then Mario next month), I think I'll be looking into FF3 and Children of Mana.

And FFXII...Like I've said before: Hope it sells a ton, hope it inspires more localizations from other companies that want a piece of the action. I just have no plans on playing it. I do want to see for myself how Dirge is received upon its' release here.

I would expect the latter over the former.  Can think of no logical reason why they would show FFXIII when XII is their major upcoming title.  Can't even imagine Sony pushing them for it.  At TGS, perhaps.

Will be interested to see Valkyrie Profile 2 and Dawn of Mana.  And FFVI Advance is a likely purchase for the next time I fly across the Pacific, unless they really botch it.  The notion of FFIV-VI being emulated on Revolution makes the GBA versions somewhat less enticing though.

Of course it makes sense that Square wouldn't show FFXIII when they're also showcasing FFXII on inferior hardware.  But then again, sense does not apply to the company that stole all thunder from FFIX by showcasing FFX at the same E3.

I'm really glad those GBA conversions of FF5 and 6 are still going ahead. I thought they might have been binned. I really wish they would do GBA FF3 too to complete the collection but that's unlikely to happen with the DS version.

What you say makes sense, but IF FFXIII is a PS3 exclusive, Sony will want to push that as hard as possible to slow down Microsoft.  While the X360 may not be doing anything worth noting now, Sony knows MSFT is ready to take every possible advantage this fall when it will have tons of hardware and 2nd gen games while Sony will have little hardware and 1st gen games.

I don't think you have to worry about that.  That's just a pretty common disclaimer and I see no reason why SCEA would take any issue with either VP2 or SD4.

To add to this, let's not forget that E3 has become more and more of an international show and that FFXII is basically old news in the international gaming community.

As one of the few people who apparently never ever got to experience the joy of Valkyrie Profile, I'm at least a little curious about the upcoming PSP port.

And I'm definitely wanting to see some more about FFVI in a handy portable form...

As long as they don't bring up the sales numbers of VP1 (I think it was somewhere around 20,000 copies in the US...If anyone has the real numbers, it would be appreciated).

I too went nuts with FFVI long ago. I'm slightly concerned about the extra content. FF1 & 2's extras, as well as IV's didn't really do it for me at all. FFIV's especially. I could go on for awhile why I feel that way but I'm sure no one cares too much smile

I just do not want them to take a game like FFVI, which IMO is about as perfect as it is as it could possibly be, and add random things to it that throw off the mood of the original game. More powerful weapons is fun...extra levels etc but I'm not to interested in replacing Illumina or Atma Weapon with some new ridiculasly more powerful superweapons like they did in FFIV.

They better make Kefka hell of a lot harder, 50x harder at least.

Edit: To elaborate a little bit more, consider the Cursed/Paladin shield. It's a part of the game culture, we have all done the Cursed Shield/Ribbon combo, fight a bunch of battles to get the Paladin Shield. What will be the point of doing that (besides completion factor) if you're gonna get something far more powerful in the extra content. Something that was fun to do rewarded greatly in FFVI becomes meaningless. The extra content design, from what I've experienced, doesn't fit in the game either. FFIV's Lunar Sub-area didn't feel FFIV'ish at all, and neither did FF1's extra dungeons.

The point of my babbling, I don't want the extra content to take away the from the experience of the original FFVI.

I share the same lack of confidence in Square's ability to add content to FFVI that is interesting while appropriate.  If they're going to mess with near-perfection, I say go all out with a complete next-gen remake.  Otherwise, an emulation of the original on Revolution... err, Wii... sounds good to me.
