Music's not bad from what I've seen on gameplay videos, but I think I subconsciously keep forgetting they updated Kid Icarus entirely because of what they did with (to?) the gameplay...Glad the characters are alive and well, but I have no desire to experience the game.

Took me a while to get to grips with the control but, that aside, it's an awesome game and one of the best on 3DS in my opinion. That said, I have no nostalgia attached to the original because I didn't play it back in the day so I'm just taking the new one for what it is.

Yeah, I'm biased. To me, it was one of the first half-dozen NES games I ever owned and after SMB, my favorite platformer. Still holds up just fine today.

If I remember the order right, my first couple NES games went: SMB/Duck Hunt, Metroid, Kung-Fu, Zelda 1, Kid Icarus.

I played the 3D classics version of it and, man, is that one punishing game and apparently that version is easier than the original. I stuck it out for quite a while and may well go back to it as I made quite a bit of progress but I can only imagine the effort and satisfaction of making it completely through that game. The 3D version is pretty nice looking too.

Truth be told, I missed most of those games the first time around except for SMB and Duck Hunt.

Yeah, I know the game pretty good and you still have to be careful. Once you build up to 2-3 lifebars and level your arrows up, it gets way easier (Stage 3 and 4 are almost too easy). Levels 1-2 and especially 1-3 are some of the most punishing in the game, considering your limited resources, but if I get through those, I can usually make it without dying the rest of the way. And that Stage 3 fortress still gives me nightmares. Like Metroid and Zelda, the game is pretty huge considering the time period it came out in.

So since Uprising now has its own thread...Would it be fair to call it a cross between Panzer Dragoon and Megaman Legends? That's how it appears to me, from gameplay videos.

tbh, I'd probably pick it up cheap if I wear snagging a 3DS (probably a purchase soon enough next year), but it's not the system seller for me I was prepared to make it out to be when they announced a new Kid Icarus.

Actually I'd like to nab this at some point as well... but I already have a slew of 3DS games on my backlog. Maybe once I finish games like DKC: Returns and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

Also, not to be a negative Nancy but I've heard that the flying controls in Uprising take some getting use to. I'm not sure if that's true or not yet I've seen that written in more than a few places.

Nintendo actually has a cool deal going on in Japan right now where you get to download a 3DS game for free for each 2 games you buy, and Uprising is on the list of freebies. I've downloaded it but I have yet to start playing it. I've heard nothing but praise about this though (apart from some control issues), so I'm looking forward to seeing what the fuss is about.

I think I must be getting very tired, since I read that and thought "Do I know a Nancy on this forum?"
