GameFront reports that a music CD of some kind will be packaged with the Japanese LE version of VP2.

Idolores Mar 6, 2006

Could be interesting. I'll take a looksee sometime. In any event, how was the firstt Valkriye Profile? I heard amazing things about it, and they're selling it for relatively cheap at my nearest game source . . .

Get it. Great game, and it goes for crazy money on eBay usually. Rare as hell. I sold my copy several months ago for almost $100.

Sabreman Mar 6, 2006

Yeah, I grabbed the game towards the end of last year after dithering over it for ages. Worth every penny I paid... I just love the combat system. I think it's the only RPG I've ever played where I actually went out of my way to look for fights I'd missed.

Svenlove2003 Mar 6, 2006

If anyone is interested in spending an outrageous sum of money, let's say 160$ including shipping(yeah yeah,I know, but I need money),I have the first Valkyrie Profile game in mint and complete condition.I know it is a crazy price, but I haven't had a chance to really go forward in the game,so I can part with it.I'm pretty sure nobody will want to pay that much but...who knows?(I'm starting to be like the crazy prices guy on ebay).

Oh balls, now I have to preorder this one also. :D

My copy of VP: Lenneth and its artbook should be arriving today or tomorrow. \^_^/

Now that I have a better idea of where to order Japanese stuff online, I'm probably going to be whoring out my money a lot more to Tri-Ace... buying Japanese AND English versions.

I just read the IGN version of this story, and I'm shocked to see the prices Squenix is charging.  The regular version is ¥8190!  I know RPGs sell for a premium in Japan, but I thought only DQ went that high (in this generation anyway -- we all know about SFC RPG pricing).  For those interested in the LE, prepare to shell out ¥14910.

With the current low value of the yen and the recent penchant for game companies to charge higher prices for more high profile games, that's really not that far off the mark.  That's the price Gamecube Biohazard 4 came out for and it's the typical price for a lot of bigger console titles.  Rising development costs also lead to higher prices, which is why I can totally see where Nintendo's going with their current philosophy of trying to attract gamers with simpler, cheaper stuff that innovates in ways other than graphics.  While I may not be interested in a lot of the software for the DS or what may come for the Revolution, there's certainly something to be said for the sales figures on all those DS games that come out a a much lower price than any other system's games.

Woo, tangent.

From the article:

Gleichzeitig erscheint mit der Erstauslieferung eine limitierte Sonderauflage: In der 'Artifact Box' befinden sich eine Soundtrack CD, eine Actionfigur und ein Schmuckstück aus Metall. Preis: 14.910 (Euro 106 / USD 128)

Anyone have any idea what a Schmuckstück is?  *wallet whimpers*
I wonder who the Actionfigur is going to be of. ^_^

Datschge Mar 7, 2006

Schmuckstück is German for trinket.

tri-Ace Super Fan Mar 8, 2006

Supposedly, the figure will be of Silmeria, the trinket is some little metallic thing probably not unlike the feather accessory that came with the LE of the first game, and the album will be a "Best Of" with a mixture of tracks from the first game and the sequel.

Considering how expensive the LE for the original game still is, 14,910 yen doesn't seem so bad to me, especially in comparison to the already high price the standard version of Silmeria will be, so I'll definitely be getting it. :)

And that is? I'm in serious need of a place that doesn't sell at a premium (>_<)

http://www.himeyashop.com

I only ordered there because I had the word of a fanboy even more rabid than myself that they always try to include preorder goodies when possible.

Sure enough, I picked up my package today and yay Visual Profile artthing smile

They're a little more expensive than some places, but seem to be very reliable.  I'll definitely be preordering VP:Sil from there.

Looks to be very high quality from this shot. :)

Very cool.

There are two other pictures of figures listed from that same URL:

http://member.square-enix.com/jp/s/vp/v … ?voiceid=6

Those figures are going to be featured in the upcoming Valkyrie Profile: Trading Arts collection.

I signed up for the Japanese Square-Enix members site just so I could look at more of this stuff. ;D

tri-Ace Super Fan Mar 19, 2006

Nice. :) Well, it should be high quality considering the price of the LE box. :P

Sabreman Mar 19, 2006

Outstanding!

*clears shelf space*

Here are some new details about the box:

http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/doc … 27/vp2.htm

The name of the CD is "VP 1&2 SOUND PROFILE CD". It will have 10 tracks, including "The Sky Was High Above" (CM music of the first VP) and an arrange version of "Take a flight" apparently used in the PSP remake.

Sabreman Mar 27, 2006 (edited Mar 27, 2006)

Gorgeous!

Is anywhere preordering this yet?

EDIT: stupidity due to excitement. I've just preordered from Play-Asia smile

Dang, I just came here to post this; seems you beat me to it. :)

I wonder if that "Visual Profile 2" thing is going to be limited only to preorders again... if so, HimeyaShop.com is going to get my business again.

Must... save... money again. bleah. :p
