For those who care, it appears that Falcom has secretly released the OST for Xanadu Next.  The soundtrack was previously released as a download on Game Listen Japan and iTunes.  Evidently, the soundtrack went on sale today.  I expect that Cocoebiz will accept orders soon.  The soundtrack will contain two tracks not in the iTunes version (Karaoke version of the vocal song, and trailer music from Special Box 2004).

This is good news.  The samples I've heard have been agreeable, and I've been wondering why they haven't released this soundtrack.

soundtracks that are released "iTunes only" make me angry. I like packaging. I like real objects. tongue

Same here. I can buy the CD, rip it anyway I like, listen to it and the data will never go away (unless I sell it...but then there are CD-R's). Buying premade files is already a limitation and doesn't even cover the lack of artwork/liner notes.

I don't think it's one of the better Falcom OST's in this new era, but it's certainly different (mostly a dark orchestral/acoustic sound) and there are a couple of noteworthy songs at least (The "La Valse Pour Xanadu" mixes, "Evildoer" and "White Lie in Black").

I wonder what style White Lie in Black would be considered...

Heh, at the start, it sounds like she's singing/speaking "Falcom love." Engrish is always a nice stylistic touch, but this whole song takes it to the next level.

You and me both, man. I like the whole experience of getting a new soundtrack. The whole solo-MP3 thing makes me feel like I'm leeching. I like to own music I love, dammit!

EDIT: and also, I enjoy ripping at the bitrate I like to rip at, instead of having a static bitrate that I can't do anything about.
