Eternal Legend of the Wind is a nice arrange album for Final Fantasy III, but most of the opening speeches are just completely inane. Has anyone edited a version of the CD with the spoken parts removed or at least edited into their own tracks?

Heh, it's the very first thing I did when I learned how to sound edit many years ago. wink   I removed all the narrated speeches, save for "Rebirth" - I kept the last few seconds of dialogue intact here, because I didn't want to cut out the piece's musical intro that begins to blend in with the voice.  I made "Roaming Sheep" and "The Breeze" their own tracks, and opted for the better mastered renditions featured on the Final Fantasy 1987 - 1994 compilation album.  And I took the chanting piece featured on the track "Their Spiritual Leader" and made it into its own song that I dubbed "Chant of the Wind."

I did the same thing back when I got the album (2004/2005), but for whatever reason, I never kept it...

Definitely appreciate being able to get back in touch with this album!

That was my first purchase on ebay, on March 13, 2000, from the bootleg seller "hardcored2". I didn't know it was a bootleg at first. In fact, GameCave told me (over the phone) to always buy Ever Anime versions.

When I got the legitimate pressing, I removed the speech (as many others have likely done).

Do you mean Gamecave, as in the subsidiary of Gamefan magazine? They went under in December of that same year, much to my enormous chagrin.

If so, odd that a magazine so steeped in the lore of Japanese pop culture wouldn't know a bootleg from a legitimate pressing.

Yes. I found an advertisement by GameCave in the back of an Electronic Gaming Monthly (summer of 1999) for a "Hyrule Symphony" music CD. When I called them, I asked the sales representative why the Ever Anime version was $10 cheaper. He responded by telling me to always buy Ever Anime. So I did, since it was $10 cheaper (the official pressing was going for $30).

Muchos thankies for all the effort, Angela! It's a very enjoyable listen now and nicely edited smile

GameCave was f---ing evil and sold SM and EA bootlegs like it was their job. I'm glad they went under. They charged me $40 for the FFT OST which they *listed* with the DigiCube catalog number and I got a SonMay from them. They. SUCK.

Anyway, I'm surprised how many people do this. I know how ridiculous those monologues are. But I totally listen to them every time I pop in the album. It's part of the experience. smile

The very first time that I became aware of buying VGM albums and made plans to start VGM collecting, it was from a GameCave ad. In hindsight, I'm very glad those plans fell through. When I eventually got to buying albums from Animenation, Eternal Legend of the Wind was among the first batches!
