This link says it all; a 10 disc box set coming out in May:

The box doesn't include the N64 soundtracks, but folks seem to think a later "Volume 2" might have these.

It will be interesting to see how this affects prices for the original (and very expensive) Goemon OSTs.  I certainly won't be buying any until the marketplace digests this.

And we will know because there will be some kind of rumbling of the earth.

Oh my poor wallet. If they're going to charge that much, they should have just done one ginormous box with everything like did with Castlevania.

I know this is off topic, but I can't be the only one that finds the Castlevania box somewhat unattractive. Yes, at it's core it's a great deal, but every soundtrack where I own the solo release something from it is missing from it in the box:

For example LoI is missing "Prologue to the Black Abyss" and "Rinaldo's Cabin" (short but great tracks)
DoS is missing the bonus "Original Amber Scenery" (a personal favorite)
The CoD disc is missing some good tracks. (CoD isn't the greatest OST but I really enjoy it for some reason. So glad I bought that when I did.)

I already had most of the Castlevania albums when the box set came out, and given that every soundtrack isn't complete I figure I'd rather just get what I'm missing.  As far as the Goemon box set, considering I'm not familiar with the music from anything but "Mystical Ninja" (and I shelled out to get that), I'm a bit hesitant... though it's probably worth it...

This box set was just released days ago, and otaku is already marking it up heavily ($192, vs the release price of 14500 yen, or ~$130):

But, of course. It's Otaku.

Remember, it's Goemon: the demand was probably excessive. CD Japan is still taking orders for a future batch for $141 right now.

Unlikely there will be a volume 2. This was published by EGG MUSIC which is more of a retro preservation group and I don't think they've ever released anything past the Genesis/SNES era.

I just got my copy today from cdjapan but haven't had a chance to sit down and rip it yet.

I sort of assumed there would be a volume 2, but that's a good point as to why there might not be.  I hope we're wrong about this though smile

Goemon picture !!

I wasn't supposed to buy any music for the year... but I had to pick this up. First cd case holds two cds with music from the AC, MSX, and FC. Track 24 - I wish the '20 - 24' would repeat for the whole track. Track 54 - reminds me of Super Mario Land's ancient ruins music. The second disc track 50 sounds just like the serene water music from Super Mario Bros [NES]. EDIT: It's 'Ryugu Castle', yet why do I want to go for a swim? Track 54 - must be a boss battle; it captures a highly intense feel of fighting that will not last long for both participants. EDIT: It's 'Final Boss'. Track 59 - excellent use of rest notes.

I sometimes think of Contra's music when listening to these first discs. Anyone else here similarities? Also very curious on the translation of Hally's reviews in the boxset booklet.
