Sounds like a typical console launch to me. Licensed games aplenty. There's literally nothing on that list I want. Which makes it easier for me to wait, I suppose. wink

The initial virtual console game list is incredibly disappointing. I guess I was expecting more third-party games... and more SNES games in general. On the other hand, the nostalgic in me looks forward to playing Simcity again. wink

Of the actual Wii games due this year, I still only plan to get Zelda and Wii Sports (the latter just because it comes with it).  I very much want to try Rayman, Red Steel, and Call of Duty 3, but I don't plan to buy them.

For the Virtual Console, that's a healthy list, but some of those titles are grossly overpriced.  $5 for NES Pinball?  Come on.  Based on the list, I doubt I will buy any of those VC titles, especially since I already own most of them on cartridge.  I do, however, wonder if Nintendo will offer a free Virtual Console download with the system or if it will give away Wii Points as a Club Nintendo bonus for buying and registering a certain number of games.  That'd be nice.

It would also be nice if Virtual Console games had free playable demos like XBLA games, but I've heard nothing hinting at that yet.

Zelda is the only thing remotely interesting for Wii right now, although I might give Splinter Cell a spin, just for the hell of it. I liked the first two anyway.

What's the price for Genesis games by the way? Is that going to be the same as for SNES?

Way overpriced though.

$8 according to GAF.  TG-16 games are $6.

Way overpriced though.

I can agree, but some games I'll end up paying that amount to have again.  What is disappointing is the Japanese list, which has such greats as Super Castlevania IV, Contra III, Donkey Kong Country, R-Type III, Street Fighter II, Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda Link to the Past, and Fire Emblem all for the SNES.  For the NES, Gradius and Super Mario Bros.  Nothing additional for the N64.  Sega's offering Ristar and Shadow Dancer for the Genesis in Japan only.

My guess is that this list is the VC launch list only, unlike what sources claim.  It has to be---because Nintendo said 30 at launch (we're the only ones to get it in November), 10 each month thereafter---that would be 40 by year's end.  Japan gets like 45 at launch (I'm not counting them).

Here's the GAF article:  http://gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=7143

Regardless, I'll pay what they ask for the games that I must have---I'm hoping they'll come to their senses and those lesser titles are offered as freebies or their prices drop as demand proves to be quite low.  Otherwise, I can do without Pinball for the NES, and many more of the first 30.

Actually, out of the 30 announced, I might get Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros, Sim City, Super Mario 64, Altered Beast, Gunstar Heroes (I think; isn't this a Treasure game?), and Bonk's Adventure (I never played a Bonk game).  That's $60 for those 9 though.  I'm unfamiliar with quite a few of them---especially the TG-16 games.

If we can't buy games cross-region, I'm gonna be really really angry.  Japan gets Bomberman '94, easily my favorite in the entire franchise, and the US is stuck with '93.  sad

It just bothers me that they're drip-feeding the retro content in the first place. Why not just bung it all on from the get-go?

Cue months of speculation and waiting for various people's favourites to show up.

It makes much more business sense. If they release them little by little, people are more likely to buy something now, AND buy something later, rather than just one if they were both available.

But there's pretty much nothing at all interesting in the first series for me, especially at those prices (not that I'll likely get a Wii until at least May or something)

Unintentional puns are cool!

That lineup looks the same as what you see on store shelves right now for the current gen systems...   What a Revolution!

Actually, it wasn't completely unintentional, it just wasn't very good big_smile
Thanks for noticing though wink

I'm not really willing to pay for these games again, since I still own most of them, but I'm prepared to lay down some money to get my hands on the old MegaMan games, if Capcom ever turns over.
