"If this news is true, the next four months look to be a strong start for the Wii: Wii Play in February, Mario Party 8 in March, Super Paper Mario in April, and Metroid Prime in May(be)." http://wii.ign.com/articles/757/757502p1.html

Hm, I can't figure out why Mario Party 8 is such a big deal, but whatever.  If this is true, then I'm curious where Mario Galaxy falls---June, perhaps?  That's later than promised, but that won't be a shock.

Wii continues to feed off GC's rotting corpse...

That said, this might hasten my Wii pick-up. I expected SPM to be further down the line...That's probably the one game I'm looking forward to as much as Smash Brothers Brawl. If Nintendo puts out SPM, Mario Galaxy and Metroid early, they might be able to save SSBB as their big Christmas title.

I agree on Mario Party 8...Even playing the others as a multi-player game, I didn't see what the big deal was. Smash Brothers and Mario Kart are far more entertaining 4-player games.

Which reminds me, where is the Mario Kart announcement?  Has there been one and I overlooked it?

Fire Emblem is supposed to come out next month in Japan, so I'm thinking that'll get released before year's end here.  Plus there's Disaster and Project HAMMER, both of which should be nearing completion for a summer release along with Galaxy.

A Wii-specific MK, or a previous MK on Virtual Console? Either way, I'm eagerly awaiting it...I can't wait to challenge my b/f on an MK, especially since he's claimed to be superior in MK 64, heh.

And ooooh, Super Paper Mario.....my god, so many games that are making me ready to break my vow to finish belated Xmas gifts before touching a video game...

Good point, I'd love to get Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64, but I was meaning a Wii-specific one.

This news just made my day!  And my April, too!

Few things here...

First, Super Paper Mario in April.  Great news, now I have something new to play for Q2.  If only I didn't have to use my leftover 2006 vacation time before April.  ::Sigh::

Mario Party 8 was actually just delayed into Q2 (source: Game|Life), so it won't be making March anymore (your guess is as good as mine).

I wouldn't expect Super Mario Galaxy before August, but I'd love to be proven wrong.  I expect Pokemon Battle Revolution will be Nintendo's big June title to follow up on April's stateside releases of Diamond and Pearl for DS.  With all the kiddies getting out of school and Wiis (presumably) readily available to purchase by then, it makes an awful lot of sense.

For SSBB, I expect Nintendo's usual Monday before Thanksgiving ship date.

Finally, Mario Kart 64 is Virtual Console next Monday and Nintendo has not announced a new Mario Kart for Wii as of yet.  Personally, I'm kind of curious if the two Namco arcade versions will ever be brought home, though I have no idea if they're any good or not.

Heh...I feel your pain on lack of time.

OOOOOOOOOOHHH! Good GOD I need to finish my projects ASAP...

I'm wondering, though, how the controls of MK64 will be translated over to the Wii. The Classic controller doesn't seem very conducive to that.

Ryu Jan 23, 2007

I forgot about Pokemon Battle Revolution.

So if MP8 is delayed, does that mean that there will be no new Nintendo-published Wii game for March?  That month is full enough anyway with 3rd party games, so I guess that's not such a bad thing... not that I was buying MP8 anyway; I have (most likely my last) two PS2 games to get that month.  Plus Nintendo has plenty to release on the Virtual Console.

I guess not.  But it's not like Nintendo usually releases one console game every month anyway (cough N64 cough cough GameCube cough cough).  Also, it's very possible that Sonic may slip into March and Nintendo might want to let Sega have the limelight.  Or perhaps there's another delay we don't know about and Mario Party 8 is being moved back to take that game's place (one possibility is Mario Strikers Charged).

Since I have GCN controllers, and MK: DD worked fine on GCN, I've never felt compelled to get a Classic controller.  How is the Classic controller for most games out?

Ryu Jan 23, 2007

Bah, I forgot about Mario Strikers Charged as well as Battalion Wars 2.  Actually, it seems like Nintendo has plenty lined up to release a game a month, but I think you have a point about how they are probably thinking strategically along with their 3rd parties.

I have a question to tag onto this if anyone knows.  With non-SNES games, is there any way to make the classic controller's B button act as the NES/N64's A button and the controller's Y button to double for the NES/N64's B button?  If they force A and B to map to A and B it pretty much makes it useless.

This may sound picky, but I really hate having to tilt my thumb in an unnatural direction to play games, and that's what not remapping the buttons forces you to do.  The latest DS Kirby game does this also (for no apparent reason) and I made sure Nintendo heard about it on the survey they sent me about the game.  I realize I'm ranting now, but I really can't fathom why this is increasingly happening (starting with the GBP and DS lacking the ability to reassign the GBA's A and B buttons to B and Y, an ability the SGB sure had).  Companies like Microsoft make a big deal about how their games are required to have 720p and 16:9.  I think all games should be required to have configurable control schemes.  It takes no time to program, but it's so rarely seen outside of PC games and FPS titles.
