Pretty cool looking man.  I'd join but I don't have my SNES (only 16bit system I own) here and no joysticks or gamepads for the PC.  Besides it would take away from my goal to 1cc Grad V!  Looks sweet though, I wish you a good turnout.

i think the ESRB would pretty much condemn a game that was a School Shooter, regardless of when it was released....   .... (dodges tomatoes and bottles...)

Nick G Feb 14, 2007

Grrrrr... I just registered with the shmups forum but I can't log in. I e-mailed Malcom about it.

XLord007 Feb 14, 2007

In other shooter news, rumor has it Ikaruga may grace Live Arcade.

csK Feb 14, 2007

You might be better off emailing one of the moderators, I'm not sure how active Malc is with the page anymore (maybe he is, but I haven't seen him much on the forums)

Nick G Feb 14, 2007

Ahhh... I give up. None of their e-mail addresses are listed and I can't PM them if I can't log in. I've created my own little shmup challenge: play through the first stage of D-Force for the SNES without dying or laughing at how bad the game is. That will keep me busy for awhile.

Nemo Feb 15, 2007

Hey Nick, if you want to participate, I'll sign you up.  I think they might be doing something about temporarily disallowing new members due to the recent rise of bots.

Nick G Feb 15, 2007

Yeah, man! Sign me up! Thanks!

Nemo Feb 15, 2007

You're in.  If you still are unable to sign-up by the time the tourney starts. I'll be sure to keep you updated on all the challenges.

Nick G Feb 15, 2007

I can still view the message boards so if that's where you are going to post the challenges then that won't be a problem. I assume this tournament will require video submissions? If so, I'm not sure what options I have other than recording a dvd of the challenges I complete, if any at all.

Nemo Feb 15, 2007

It's all based on honor, but some people like to provide a pic of their score.  You'd have to be a pretty big dork to cheat anyway as there's no actual prize except pride, and how can you take pride in something you didn't accomplish?

Nick G Feb 15, 2007

hehe... That makes sense! Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm a total noob at this.

Nemo Mar 5, 2007

Hey Nick, I dunno if you're still following everything, but if you've been doing the TFIV challenge, it ends tonight at midnight ET.  So if you still can't post over there, you can e-mail your score or post it here and I'll incorporate it.

Nick G Mar 5, 2007

Hey Nemo. I'm following the contest but I'm not really making any progress. I'm just trying to beat Eliminate Down right now. I've been using save states to help me memorize stages but I still get my ass kicked. I shouldn't be surprised by my own suckiness but I was hoping to do a little better than I am. Thanks for checking up on me, though!

Nemo Mar 5, 2007

Due to some unforseen circumstances the game for this week was changed from Eliminate Down to Thunderforce IV, I guess it doesn't matter now though as the challenge expires in 2 hours. smile

Nick G Mar 6, 2007

I'm aware of the change. I just chose to keep playing ED to see if I could beat it. Your TFIV challenge is way beyond my skill level. I couldn't even beat the game with 99 lives.

Nemo Mar 6, 2007 (edited Mar 6, 2007)

No shame in that, practice makes perfect. wink

Nemo Apr 9, 2007

The tournament has concluded and STC users had a strong showing.  "Nemo" from our boards finished in 2nd place and took home the Silver Medal, and "NickG" finished in a tie for 11th.  Way to rep the board guys!

Nick G Apr 9, 2007

Darn... I thought I still had time to post a score for Undead Line. I probably would've cracked the top ten sad I could only get to stage two, though.

Anyway, it was quite a humbling experience participating in my first tournament but it was fun and I'd love to join the next one! Thanks for accomodating me for being unable to log in to the Shmup! Forums, as well.
