Anyone have the SonMay version of this CD? If so, I'd like to ask you to test out something for me. (Sorry, it does not involve destruction of any kind. ^_~ ) Please send me an email through the forums. Thanks!

Does this have to do with the 'hidden' track?

Sure does. I inadvertently found out something strange about the SM version and I'm hoping someone can help me verify it. If you know anyone who has the CD but who's not on this forum, I'd appreciate it if you could let them know and have then get in contact with me. ^_^

What's this hidden track thing?

And how could the SonMay version have a hidden track--SonMay being a pirating "publisher" and all.  Unless they arbitrarily added on a track themselves.

The legit cd has a hidden track, it's one wing angel and you have to scroll backwards from the beginning of track 1 if I remember correctly.  The SM version probably just tacked it on somewhere else.

Doesn't the SaGa Frontier soundtrack pull the same trick with an additional track that is suppost to be Riki's theme?

Yes, on disc 3 (which is oddly the longest disc even without it)

!!! Why didn't I know that about SaGa Frontier ...

I wonder if I once knew that, but forgot. I LOVE SaGa Frontier. I needs to check that out.

*checks it out*

Yep, that's hot.

Did Son May release a version as well? I don't have that, but I do have the Ever Anime version which appears to have the pregap hidden track. I don't have a player handy that can seek to it properly, but Exact Audio Copy is able to recognize and indicate these tracks (but not rip them, so far as I know).

I had no idea...
How exactly does one "scroll" on a CD? What do you have to do to access the track? Can you do it on a computer, CD player, both? Neat!

ps Now I'm curious, what other CDs have hidden tracks?

The program "cd-r win" I always use to extract hidden tracks. Basically you view the sector length for track 01 (which could run from like   (213458~5677911)   Then you know that there's a hidden track. And you then do a sector extract rip and select    (0~213457) and you've got the hidden track.

Great, I've been looking for a list of them. Of course, it doesn't list Saga Fro (surprise surprise...)

Good grief!!  I'm going to have to get my Opeth "Ghost Reveries" out and double-check that one.

This is exciting stuff!

Actually, FFVII Reunion Tracks was the very first Soundtrack I ever bought.
Knowing nothing about official releases and pirated CD's, I later found out that it was indeed a bootleg, ie the SonMay version.

Now the only problem is, I don't have it with me here, but the secret track IS on there and you can access it in the same way jb said.
