I'm glad this is being produced in Japan. It's my observation that Americans are too hung up over Mega Man 2 and its music.
Actually, I'd say most of the doujin Rockman stuff I've seen was MM2. Almost never 4-7, some 1 or 3, plenty of 2.
If this turns out to be all MM2 with little else thrown in, I'll be perfectly happy.

There is no doubt Mega Man II is going to get some major spotlight, I would expect no less - still, as much as I love MM2 I have to give props to the entries that followed. The melodies on those soundtracks seem to extend somewhat beyond the simple yet effective core of those found in MM2. While Mega Man 1-6 come off as a unified front the composition after 2 simply seems more complex than it's forebearers.

If I am permitted a popular Internet Acronym: ROFLMAO.
That comment made my day.
Seriously though, I understand his point, cos Mega Man 2 is arranged to death by Western VGM fans, and the other ones hardly get any attention (except for 3), so I don't know if I could get really excited by hearing yet another arrangement, even if it is official this time. Still, MM2's Wily Stage seems pretty much like a no-brainer to me, since it might just be the number 1 popular Mega Man theme in existence.
Me, I wants me some MM4! Cossack stages please!

From my experience, it's rather the Cutman stage which deserves this mention.
Mega Man 1 does have classic value, but I don't see anything in that game being more popular than anything in MM2. Any instances you feel are contrary? Just curious.
Personally, my favorite soundtrack of the six is Mega Man 5. I've heard 2 & 3 to death, but 5 is also excellent and it still feels a bit fresh to me.

I kind of a agree with dma about Cut Man's theme being up there... if I was to take one track from MM1 and advertise it that's the track I'd pick (with Wily Stage 1 coming in a close second.) In the hands of a skilled arranger/remixer Cut Man's theme can shine more than it already does. Still, as Amazingu said, Wily Stage 1 from MM2 is easily the most recognizible MM song in existence... there really is no denying that.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some Cossack action, Diveman and Flameman. Seriously, how could you NOT arrange Flameman for rock? That main melody is just begging for a dual-lead.
PV (hero) set up GMR with some hot tracklist action:
01 Boss mix
02 Cutman mix
03 Metalman mix
04 Dr.Wily 1 (Rockman2)mix
05 Shadowman mix
06 Get a Weapon (Rockman3) mix
07 Dr.Cossack 2 mix
08 Dr.Wily 2 (Rockman5)mix
09 Yamatoman mix
10 Tomahawkman mix
11 Title mix
12 Cutman original
13 Metalman original
14 Dr.Wily 1 (Rockman2)original
15 Shadowman original
16 Get a Weapon (Rockman3) original
17 Dr.Cossack 2 original
18 Dr.Wily 2 (Rockman5)original
19 Yamatoman original
20 Tomahawkman original
So, eleven arrangements, and nine of those originals are thrown in as well, which is cool I guess except for the part where they're wasting space that could be used for more arrangements come on now capcom what's the big deal
I'm guessing "Boss mix" and "Title mix" are medleys because they don't have originals and are ambiguous about which game they come from.
I'm disappointed that they are using disc space for the original versions. I liked that novelty with the Segarock CDs, but that's because I hadn't heard most of the original tunes before. At least Cutman and Dr. Cossack get some lovin'. I'm really curious to see the techno arrange tracklist now.
Also, just remembered that Shadow Man's from MM7, so I guess Kahori was right about the MM1-6 collection containing MM7 material.
Someone dropped the ball somewhere to let that one get through.

Shadow Man was in Megaman 3 though.
If this album contains original tracks, I have just removed this from my "buy" list. I have zero interest in chiptunes. I would have preferred that the original music be placed on its own disc, like the disc layout for Star Ocean Blue Sphere.
Ugh, Shade Man, right. DISREGARD
Would have loved to seen Bubbleman on the list, but there are some really good rock remixes of it out there.
And yeah, why waste space on originals? I'm would think most people interested in these albums would have the Rockman 1~6 box as it is.
And nice to see that Toru Iwao is doing the arrangement for this one. And the tracklist looks damn nice, hopefully originals are just some odd way to name tracks and they're not plain originals.
Edit: Althought, Nittoku Inoue would been my number #1 to arrange this album. His tracks from Wild Arms Rocking Heart still time to time rocks my randomly preferred media player.
what is really boggling about the originals being on there is that I'm pretty sure there are cover bands in both the east and west that would pay Capcom to be featured on this disc.
quality bands, even!
hey, it's still a month away. you think it's too late to hit capcom with a PETITIONONLINE(!?!?)
well, yeah, probably. even though they're the only gaming company ever to notice one.
I'm glad it's Rockman 1-7, just so 8 is properly stigmatized.
While it's a more diverse tracklist than I expected, I wanted more MM5 tunes!
Okay, I got my Metalman and Tomahawkman mixes, so I'm a happy camper, but I seriously hope this one is a misprint:
06 Get a Weapon (Rockman3) mix
Not one anyone expected, but...Is it one anyone wanted? I can see it being a quality riff (which it kind of is), but a whole arrangement? We'll see.
Yamatoman has my vote for potential sleeper-hit of the album...Forgot how good this one was.
I agree that the originals are a waste of space, but I'm pleased that Metal Man and Dr. Wily 1 from RM2 are both in. I could do without the RM6 and Cut Man tracks. There's too many better tracks they could've picked than those.
Tracklist seems disappointing. As suspected, looks like these will be medley versions. I just hope they throw in some instrumental surprises. Seeing as the GG crew is to be involved, I'm doubting any sax solos or the like. Unlike Rocking Heart, this will likely be a true guitar-driven album.

I sure hope so. I remember some GG having sax, but it was pretty unintrusive (I want to say Slayer's theme, but I haven't listened to that album in over a year). That being said, I hope the album is a little more refined than XX and the drums have more oomph than Isuka; the guitar playing on XX bugs me because it's sloppy, and the drums on Isuka could use less treble and more ass-kicking (although the drumlines themselves are great).
With the inclusion of the originals, does anyone think its possible we might find out who really composed the originals instead of getting the Capcom Sound Team/penname treatment?
/also thinks the originals are a waste, especially because they could've sandwiched a few more arrangements on there...
The tracklist seems pretty thin. Also, I'm boggled that Shadowman was chosen as the sole MM3 Robot Master representative, and that TWO Mega Man 6 Robot Master tracks were used (I didn't think that soundtrack was quite as good as most of the others). But I'm still looking forward to hearing how this turns out.
There seems to be another rockman disc up for preorder at play asia:

Ryuusei no RockMan 1&2 Original Soundtrack - Jan 16, 2008
I have no clue what that is for, are those the DS games?

Yeah, those are the "Starforce" games.
I'm actually curious if those are any good or not...Cardfighter's Clash and Pokemon Trading Card (or whatever it was) actually ended up with some decent music and the majority of EXE music hasn't been bad at all (though hardly in the same league as the classic or X series, a few pieces aside).

Well, I bought the first one, but I've yet to play it. However, from everything I've seen about them, it's basically a continuation of EXE with a few changes, like 3D battles and a slightly modified battle system. It's not that different from EXE, particularly the battle cards and the overall system. Music is not bad. Y. Aoki from EXE 2,3,6 fame returns in Ryuusei 1, as well as M. Takano from EXE 5 DS.
Cover art released. It's a Wily!
Samples forthcoming...
And just for fun...Babblefish gives us the lowdown on the album in English...um, sort of.
"2007, the Daisaku "lock man" series of CAPCOM 迎 it is this year, popularity "of the lock man" sound source reviving 20th anniversaries! Focusing on the first generation "lock man", second creation and arrangement which the "lock man" トリビュート are done creation records explosive hit from Internet, explosion is spreading one after another. Now, as for heat of the lock man sound source with climax, as for the fan you yearn. Commemorating lock man 20th anniversary, the first generation "lock man" 1? Among BGM of 6, you select and immediately and others the れ are lock music Ver. Techno Ver. It distributes, it sells CD which is arranged with continuation. First of that as feature, lock Ver Preceding release. Also that tune of topic boiling of course recording! Tetsu Iwao who with famous grapple game "ギルティギア" has taken charge of the guitar with lock sound takes charge of arrangement! The guitar sound which is force plays the melody of the lock man."
Now THAT'S sig material!
On a serious note...I wonder if "arranged for continuation" means this will be a continuous thing. And it looks like Iwao is arranging as well as playing. Interesting, since I've never actually heard him compose/arrange before (just playing for other composers).
"Continuation" should have been translated as succession, and it refers to the Techno Album, which is released 2 weeks later, which is about as rapid as succession gets in terms of arranged "Lock Man" CDs.
Ah okay...I was hoping they meant as in turning these into an annual event.
Is there anyone out there buying this outright? I personally can't make such a leap because the last arrange album I bought (WA:rh) really fell by the wayside for me. Don't get me wrong - it was good and I really didn't have any expectations that ruined it for me - but it just didn't stick with me.
Is there anyone out there buying this outright?
Nope. Waiting on the samples or a download first, for sure. I've been let down so many times before that I need to be completely sure that I am going to be satisfied before I plop down the cash.
This is sort of a side note here... but does anyone know what this is?
