This sounds about right (though it also describes my ideal VGM arrangements, period):
Zane wrote:My ideal Rockman album would performed by a five piece band: two guitars, bass, drums and synth...Just give me metal and loud solos and rockin' drums and mind-bending dual guitar leads..
Though I'm open to something more pop-oriented, be it synth-driven ("Jump", the Ys Perfect Collections) or Poison/Judas Priest in the "Turbo" era or the stuff Marty Friedman does. In fact, those would probably fit the original music better...The former fits the X series like a glove. Given how deeply rooted in the 80's the classic Rockman music is, any of those (or a combination of all of them) would be ideal.
Of course, we're going to get everything BUT that. It can range from the Premium arranges (with each arranger indiscriminately applying their styles to whatever music they get assigned) to the Hudson Premium Arrange (chiptunes with techno beats to "modernize" them) to Gradius Tribute (half-assery all around) to the Rockman X arrange (not bad per se, but NOT something I turn to to relive Rockman X's score either) to...good god, I'll be amazed if they get this one right. I'm almost expecting a *guh* orchestral arrange for this. Hey, they crapped one out for Phoenix Wright...Maybe they'll even lease out Shiro Hamaguchi for some note-for-note piano "arranges". >_<
Like I said, I'll be dying to get this to compare it to the Rockman doujins we've seen recently. By all accounts, it should surpass them in production value. But...The "professionals" have been getting lit up the last 3 years or so, as far as the actual arrangements have gone (and for fan-arranged stuff, the production values have been pretty impressive), so I'll hold judgement for the final product. But I'm predicting a cash-in trainwreck.
1 album seems to be quite small, considering all the tracks to pick from. For all I care...They could give 1-6 each their own arrange album. But the inner fanboy in me demands the following be included at the very least:
Cutman
Fireman
Airman
Bubbleman
Woodman
Dr. Wily Stage 1 (MM2, MM3, MM4)
Hardman
Chargeman
Protoman's Castle
Mr. X's Stages
Skullman
Pharoahman
Tomahawkman

You have no idea...

Stephen wrote:The only album I liked of Rockman music was Rockman: The Power Fighters. Unfortunately, the tracks were too short overall and it was a little too much synth. It needs to sound more like Rockman Battle and Chase in terms of music "energy."
Power Fighters was an original soundtrack of an arcade game. The playing times basically mirror the originals and CPS2 wasn't exactly known for featuring realistic sound. Kinda helps to know this coming into this album. Battle and Chase I'm pretty sure was streamed PSX music, so it sounded more real as a result.
Scary thing is, after many years, I feel the NES music has actually aged better than Power Fighters/the PSX Rockman upgrades.
