So who has the Ys DS / Ys II DS special set?

The DS iterations are my first steps into the world of Ys, and I immediately proceded to downloading music from previous games, but I felt they were all lacking the punch the DS versions have...

Original PC88 version lacking the punch? Good sir, your travesty will not go unpunished.

Well, I dunno, I didn't check EVERY single track, I just compared one of my favorites, Subterannean Canal, and I found the DS version to be the most catchy, but maybe that's just me...

Guys, the best version of the Ys II soundtrack is obviously Ys II Special, since it has neat Korean musics (I think SoundTeMP supposedly did it? Or is that just my imagination?).

Some day I'd like to find someone willing with an MT-32 card who has the patience and willingness to rip the music (well, if the MT-32 music isn't higher quality than the ADLIB or whatever, I guess that point would be moot)...

Uhh, comparing Adlib to MT-32 is kinda like comparing a single guy farting in a tin can with full blown orchestra.
I'd be willing to at least look into ripping the music, just provide the needed files.

Also, the best version of the Ys II soundtrack is obviously the PC-98 one, since it has 13 additional tracks. And the TurboDUO redbook, since, you know, Ryo Yonemitsu and all...

Yonemitsu doesn't really do it for me, strangely enough. Also, um, that extra music in the PC-98 version - I may be wrong, but aren't those just the tracks that went unused in the original Ys?

Unless I'm mistaken, those pages indicate that the extra tracks originate from the original Ys. In fact, the PC-88 set for the original Ys includes most of them (although I'm unclear as to the nature of the exceptions). Am I missing something here? From where I sit, it looks like they're in Ys II because you need both Ys and Ys II for PC-98 to play them on a PC-98...?

Anyway, there's a thread on Ys II Special over at the Ancient Land of Ys (you can find the game on page 6). It's worth reading through to learn about the secret areas (especially the one in the first town which gives you an item that allows you to save anywhere, not just inns) and for the vague walkthrough by people who can't read the language the game's in...

of course, revisiting that thread, I'm reminded that I don't actually have proof the game supports MT-32 sound, just that the Korean guy who posted there may have misremembered it having it. I never got around to fixing up my system to emulate the MT-32 and see if Ys II Special recognized it. Stupid inability to follow through.

And of course of course, I missed someone posting a (now dead) link to a rip of the game, even though I could've sworn I visited that topic in the past few months...man, my memory is really shot to hell.

Guess it's open for a fresh rip any way you slice it...I certainly think the music is generally nice enough, even if it's not the best version.
