Some juicy stuff coming this month, especially in the way of games.  Though I'm holding off on Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny, Katamari Forever, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2,  I'll be there day one for the long-awaited Muramasa: The Demon Blade and the much-touted Scribblenauts.  I'm deathly curious about the latter; one of the more ambitious titles in scope coming this year, we'll see if the whole "write anything, solve everything" emergent gameplay is all that.

I'm still on a Raiden Fighters Aces high, so I'm looking forward to Raiden IV; that remix CD should be a nifty little bonus.  I was never keen on the 'Brothers system' in the Mario & Luigi RPG titles, especially in Partners In Time, so I'm hoping Bowser's Inside Story fares better in that regard.

Will definitely be springing for the Metroid Metal: Varia Suite download, as well as Udon's Darkstalkers Tribute art book.

James O Aug 31, 2009

I really liked the system of the first two Mario and Luigi RPG's so I'll definitely be picking up Mario & Luigi RPG 3, as well as Scribblenauts and Muramasa: The Demon Blade.

Idolores Aug 31, 2009 (edited Aug 31, 2009)

I couldn't give two shits about Scribblenauts (unless they miraculously decide to include support for some of the, er, more colorful words in my vocabulary), but Muramasa is mine. I'm going to make sweet, sweet love to it, like I did to it's Atlus-published sister, Odin Sphere.

As far as purchases go, that is it. Nothing else this month!

Edit: Oh, the Darkstalkers book by Udon, too. I loves me some Morrigan.

Wanderer Aug 31, 2009

I'll be picking up Metroid Prime Trilogy (three for the price of slightly-less-than one! YAY!) and if I have the funds, Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Maybe Bionic Commando Rearmed as I never got a chance to play it.

SonicPanda Aug 31, 2009

Hoo boy, September is Death Month for me.

Gaming-wise, I'll be grabbing:
Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days
Irregular Hunter X/Rockman Rockman Value Pack
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
Persona PSP
Scribblenauts
Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny
...and if the rumors are true, the photo-safari Afrika [sic] PS3 game.

Aside from that, I have the HC DarkStalkers book on order, along with the first uncut NA release of Dragon Ball Season 1 (early DB was crude, funny, and not at all serious about the kind of muscular soap opera the franchise would sadly devolve into). *whew*

Half of this is already paid for but damn, my wallet dreads the rest.

Herrkotowski Aug 31, 2009

I'll be picking up these:

Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2

Going to Germany in a week so I don't think I'm spending money on anything else this month...could be wrong, but not until I come back for sure.

James O Aug 31, 2009

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is out this month too?  pickin that up too... and Fringe Season 1 on blu-ray too.

Angela Aug 31, 2009

D'oh, and how could I forget about this?

I'll pick up the DVD release of A Matter of Loaf and Death for my young cousins to round out their collection.

Birthday month for me!!  My purchases include Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Scribblenauts, Muramasa and most likely Guitar Hero 5 (how can you say no to a free copy of GH: Van Halen?).  For my b-day, my wife is getting me Katamari Forever. big_smile

Hopefully I'll be getting some cash as well to head on down to the local CD shop and see what metal I've missed out on for the last couple of months.

Pellasos Sep 1, 2009

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2

and

Persona PSP

hope that's everything gamewise, my backlog is sick. don't know which soundtracks to get yet, but probably some more classics.

Yeah, no shit. Skyfire is one of my all-time favorite bands smile I can't believe it's already been 5 years since Spectral dropped. In case you haven't heard they recently released a digital EP, Fractal. Esoteric is still going to be released in the UK/EU in September, but the NA release got pushed back until October.

Last month's Guitar Hero: 'Smash Hits' was a disaster. ($60 for this??! Are they f*ckin' serious???)

GH 5's setlist looks pretty good, though.

I'm especially psyched for Du Hast!

Jodo Kast Sep 3, 2009

I ordered the Metroid Metal album, as well as Like You Know It All, the latest Hong Sang-Soo film.

Ah, but those are nothing compared to an old friend.... You can't even start to imagine how long I've been waiting for a Region 1, non-PAL version. It's old, but I've still never seen the whole thing, and what I saw was a billion times better than the first one. It actually gave me a dream in which I was killed; my head got chopped off.

Wow, you mean to say you actually saw that happening?
I've had several dreams where I die myself, but I ALWAYS wake up the instant I'm killed.

Have yet to play Du Hast, but so far the favorites are:  Space Hog - In the Meantime, A Perfect Circle - Judith,  and Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American

Smash Hits wasn't that bad, but it certainly was not worth $60.  I was able to grab it used for like $30. XD

I was in the same mausoleum that was used for filming in Phantasm II. A tall man with a long white beard spun rapidly through the halls, while swinging a large ax. I couldn't tell how he was actually moving, but the most similar phenomenon is a tornado. My point of view was slightly behind myself and I witnessed his ax chop my head off. Many other ghouls and ghastly creatures occupied the halls; they meandered a bit around my body and then I woke up. I also remember seeing a lot of those metallic balls, the cerebral bores, zipping about.

Princess-Isabela Sep 3, 2009 (edited Sep 3, 2009)

totally disappointed guys, nobody mentioning this gem:

Rock Band: the Beatles

title I'm most looking forward to.

also getting Guitar Hero 5, Mario & Luigi 3.
Muramasa is a definite maybe and so are the Scribblenauts.
huge month for sure.

Eurogamer has their review up on Scribblenauts.  7/10IGN as well, who gave it an 8.7

Along with theirs, the general consensus is that the ambitious scope of the game is stunted by its sometimes game-breaking stylus-based control scheme and awful camera viewing.

Bernhardt Sep 16, 2009

I'd love to pick up Muramasa for the Wii, but most non-first-party titles on the Wii depreciate more than all get-out, so if you're not set on playing it when it first comes out, it's better just to wait...especially for $50...

Are there any fan translations underway for that?  Is that even something that can be done with the PSP?  Maybe with all the homebrew it's possible?
