Under no terms of uncertainty I'll be picking up Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.  I'd be willing to forgo every other upcoming game this year (including the equally-anticipated Modern Warfare 2) for this badboy.  In light of such a proclamation, I'm perhaps a little less excited for Brutal Legend, Magna Carta 2, A Boy And His Blob, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time, Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga, Pop 'n Music, Tekken 6, Cooking Mama 3: Shop & Chop, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (PSP), DJ Hero, and Demon's Souls.  If I were to pick up DJ Hero and Demon's Souls, it'd be mighty tempting to pony up for the awesome looking Renegade and Deluxe Editions respectively.

In terms of movies, there's Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen and How The Grinch Stole Christmas on Blu-ray.  Shut up, I really adore the latter.

Really looking forward to the Mega Man: Official Complete Works art book.  Soundtrack-wise, I'm curious to hear the Griotte no Nemuri Hime OST.  I have no idea what it's about, but a collaborative effort between Iwadare, Naruke, and Yoshitaka Hirota seems to be a winning combination.  And Chiptuned Rockman sounds like an intriguing prospect as well.

I went a little overboard this month.

As far as video games go, I'm grabbing the following:

Demon's Souls Limited Edition
Half Minute Hero
Kingdom Hearts 356/2 Days
Mushihimesama Futari Limited Edition (import)
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
Uncharted 2

Even though I've already played through Demon's Souls once before, it'll be great to go through it again (much to my wife's dismay).

Half-Minute Hero looks interesting and I still owe Xseed a couple of pre-orders for them bringing over Riz-Zoawd.

The rest go without saying.

Wanderer Sep 30, 2009

Uncharted 2. tongue

Also: Star Trek TOS: Season 2 Blu-Ray and several opera CDs.

Jay Sep 30, 2009

I'll have to pick up Uncharted 2, though it has been months since I played any game that wasn't on my iPod and even longer since playing on a non-handheld console. Will I get to play it? I don't know but I loved the first so I'm going to try.

Aside from that, well, it's a month for dance music with Tiesto and Way Out West both bringing out new albums on the 6th and there has been talk of a new BT album for a while that may or may not make it out some time this month.

And I think that's it. Unless Star Trek comes out on Blu-Ray this month but I think I remember that being November.

Because of repetition?  Or something far more sinister?

James O Sep 30, 2009

I don't have any game purchases slated for this month.  September was quite full for me.

Blu-ray:
Contact
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
BSG: The Plan
15th Anniversary edition of Stargate (yay triple dip! bleah)

DVD:
Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs Complete Set

Idolores Sep 30, 2009 (edited Sep 30, 2009)

That Megaman Complete Works book and Chiptuned Rockman are instant buys for me. I been on such a huge Megaman kick lately. That disc is higher on my list, though. I've had the Rockman Zero Complete Works, but haven't looked through it yet, but all of Inti Creates' albums have been win in my eyes, no reason to think otherwise of this one. smile

Yo, that Darkstalkers book out yet?

Also, Demon's Souls. I need a dark, gothic RPG. These cotton-candy fruity JRPG's I been with lately just aren't doing it for me (Yeah, that's right, I'm talking to you, Sonata. And your ugly sister, Sonata, too)

Moomins for DS(both games), anime is unbelievable so these games are obligatory even though I haven't seen a single review(what's funny these games came out today and amazon has sold out all their copies so gotta wait till they restock I suppose),

Brutal Legend(it's Tim Schafer's game, how can you not support it? Grim Fandango was so unique and beautiful, I wish Tim talked Lucasarts into making part two, of course with him being the creative director), heavy metal goodness,

Forza 3 (game is so packed, they needed two discs to cover all their bases, wicked), enjoyed first two,

Abbey's Road album for Rock Band Beatles(I buy every RB dlc anyway so I guess that doesn't count),
and that's about it,

if Perfect Dark HD comes in october, - that too...in a heartbeat.

Whoa, what? Tim Schafer's doing that one? I thought it was just another one of Jack Black's projects or some shit! I loved Psychonauts . . .

Softcover version hits this month, I think. It does come recommended.

Death Month is past, but October's still pretty busy. Looking into:

Demon's Souls
Afrika
Boy and His Blob
Tekken 6 (not actually a huge fan, but I'm a sucker for art and/or music preorder bonuses, and this way I finally get some form of fight stick)
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time
Cave Story (it's been almost a year since it was announced, Nintendo, what's the damned holdup?)
Megaman Official Complete Works
...and that chiptune MM album is news to me, but color me intrigued.

That's a lot of stuff over two months, but thankfully November and December seem comparitively barren.

EDIT: OK, I looked up a bit of this Half-Minute Hero game that's been mentioned, and after seeing this, I can't NOT get it: http://www.destructoid.com/elephant/pho … 5#prevnext

Because you can't pause the damned game.  I can't tell you how many times I was on the brink of death and she wants to start talking or something.  WOMEN.  wink

What's this?  It looks interesting.

Jodo Kast Oct 1, 2009

I'll be getting Ixtl and Forscagth, the gregarious Greebles from Ghastscriff. Assuming they come out. What I really need, though, is impervious skin, genetically modified to neutralize alkaline degreasers. So I called up RNA Ramblers and they have one ready to go; it just came out this month, that is, the Helix Humdinger.

I looked at the vgm releases this month and there's nothing I need. No nothing in entertainment, actually. Better squirrel bait I could use, though. Or material that resists their incisors.

XLord007 Oct 1, 2009

My selections from October 2009's releases:

DVDs/BRDs:
[None]

CDs:
-Capcom Music Collection Vol. 0
-Chiptuned Rockman

Games:
-A Boy and His Blob (Wii) [pending reviews and probably not until the price comes down]
-Lost Winds: Winter of the Melodias (Wii) [assuming it meets the rumored October release date]
-Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth (Wii) [this was supposed to be a Q3 title, no date is known now]
-Cave Story (Wii) [this was supposed to be a Q3 title, no date is known now]

Aren't those all Wiiware titles? They're actually going to put up more content?!

Amazingu Oct 1, 2009

Too....much....awesome...this month

Uncharted 2
Ratchet & Clank: Crack in Time
Forza Motorsport 3
a Boy and his Blob

Not that I'm actually getting anywhere with the HUGE backlog I have at the moment...

And, wow, I knew nothing about that Chiptuned Rockman! Sounds great, although they kinda managed to choose all of the tracks I find LEAST interesting.

I also ended up buying Batman: Arkham Asylum, something which probably isn't in my budget. On the other hand, I convinced myself I needed to something to play before Uncharted arrives. tongue

*gives you the bat high-five*

Did you go 360 or PS3?  If 360, I'll race ya for Achievements.  ^_^  We'll see who gets the most by the time Uncharted 2 hits. tongue

Wanderer Oct 2, 2009

Sorry, Angie... When it comes to multi-platform games, I tend to go PS3, mostly because my 360 has self-destructed two times in the past. wink

A Boy and His Blob is retail, the others are all Wii Ware, and like I said, they don't really have release dates, so October is more wishful thinking on my part.

Pellasos Oct 3, 2009

for PS3:

Bayonetta gonna try the demo in a few days and see if it's worth the hype. i'm positive.

Uncharted 2 i'm not the biggest new age shooterfan, but the first entry was competent, so with all the attention this game is getting lately they can't afford to screw this up.

Africa beautiful.

Demon's Souls is a great game, but i've already got the platinum trophy in the asia version, i'm burned out and have to skip this.

Music:

Chiptuned Rockman sounds interesting. other than that, i'm focusing on older albums.

I hear ya.  Though my Falcon-equipped hasn't had any problems yet (knock on wood), I go 360 for the speedier load times as a result of the full installs.  With Arkham Asylum, though, I regret I won't be able to try out the PS3 exclusive DLC.

Let us know how it is.  In light of the whole 360 vs PS3 fiasco.....

Soundtracks

Mamoru has been Cursed! Arranged Soundtrack

Games

I'm hoping to be able to get a copy of Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 X360 LE secured.

Misc

This is completely diffrent from everything that has ever been listed here, so I don't know if it really fits, but its worth mentionning I beleive.

1 Male Emperor Scorpion (Pandinus imperator)

Should arrive this weekend. Gotta set up its tank in the next few days. I've no idea whether it's a wild-caught or a captive-bred specimen tho I'm crossing fingers for the latter.  I know I rarely post on here, but the arachnid keeping hobby hasn't started just now for me. For the past 7 months I've had a Chilean rose tarantula and have been very successful at caring for it thus far. After all that time, I figure it was time to move on with the next level. After being able to maintain this scorpion for a good 6 months or so... I'll be looking into acquiring either a whip-scorpion (sprays vinegar as self-defence !!!), a tail-less whip-scorpion (harmless arachnid which lives exclusively on vertical surfaces and moves sideways like a crab) or the infamous camel spider/solifugid (the Jaws equivalent of the arachnid world).

Herrkotowski Oct 6, 2009

Games:

Demon's Souls
Uncharted 2
Borderlands
Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time

OST/AST:

Mamoru Has Been Cursed Arrange
Griotte no Nemuri Hime

I've noticed a few people put Mushihime-sama Futari on their list...that doesn't come out until the end of November though, unless of course, they meant pre-orders and if that's the case, ignore this.

allyourbaseare Oct 6, 2009

I put Mushihimesama Futari because NCSX already charged me the $120 for it.  ....and then I was broke.

Herrkotowski Oct 6, 2009

Well, if that's the case, I should add that to my list. Makes sense though. I have technically paid for it.

played through the demo today. graphics look pale so far and there's some tearing. loading times are short and you get to practice your moves while loading, neat. gameplay is your typical DMC style, but in crazy mode, with a sexy protagonist and lots of nods to gaming culture. music is interesting, but i could't pay too much attention to it to be honest. if i wanted to complain, i'd choose the paleness of the game. everything else is solid, day one purchase for me.

Thanks for the write-up, sounding good.  As far as the paleness is concerned (assuming you're talking about color), I wonder if that'll be a product of the PS3 version specifically.  Check out these latest comparison shots from Kotaku; the PS3 screens do look noticeably 'whiter':
