Ys IV getting the remake treatment? Vita scores!
Question is, will they be working off of the "Mask of the Sun" or "The Dawn of Ys" template?
good question. we'll have to wait a while longer for that kind of information
Looks like I'm getting a Vita!
PSV is going to be amazing. Day one purchase over here. And I'm sure XSEED will hold their partnership with Falcom and do the localization up right.
Now just give me Ys V. And Origin. I want to play all games in this series.
The link above is broken now, so for those who haven't seen it, here's the trailer:

I will probably buy a Vita the day this game is released in the U.S. Since that probably won't happen any time soon, I've still got plenty of time to beat Ys 2, 3, and 7 (I've only finished 1 and 6 so far).
I'm not totally sure how you can pass Ys I and not Ys II. Those games have been grouped together since the TurboGrafx days.

I bought Ys I&II on the DS and finished Ys I. I started Ys II on the DS but then got distracted by other games. Now I have Ys I&II on PSP where I started with Ys II and have gotten distracted by other stuff again. I plan to finish the PSP version sometime and then I'll move on to 3 and 7.
Ys II Chronicles on the PSP is fantastic. It's much better balanced than Ys I, has more areas, and it's an all-around more rewarding experience.

Although I haven't played much of it, I have to agree with you so far, and I'm definitely looking forward to getting back to it.
I played this for a bit at TGS. Partially because it was Ys and partially because I just wanted to hold a Vita and it had one of the shorter lines at the time.
Tried both the overworld and boss scenarios. The action seemed pretty cut-and-dry for the former (admittedly I haven't played any Ys games since 1 and 2 so don't really know what the standards are now for the series), the latter had a bit more intensity to it. It was hard to say from my short and hectic demo the full extent of the three-character gameplay but you could certainly see the strategic element in switching the character you control manually as the boss was much more manageable when playing as the projectile-shooting girl. Graphics look very PSP1 to me which makes me wonder if that's where development started.
As for the Vita system itself it wasn't nearly as large as I expected and felt quite nice size and weight-wise. May be tempted to splurge on one come December.
Yep, that sounds like Ys VII's gameplay all right.
I don't remember reading about it, but does Celceta give your characters the ability to jump? It was only after completing The Oath in Felghana did I realize how much I missed that feature in VII.
there is a video in here: http://www.4gamer.net/games/140/G014055/20110919006/
i don't remember seeing a jump. the dash was good enough for me to be honest. falcom could implement more platforming for the next game if they wanted to, the dash is sufficent for it.
Wow Looks great! Now if only they'd use all the tracks from Ryo Yonemitsu's Perfect Collection Albums as the games soundtrack!!!!!

Or pay him to make new arrangements...that's what they should do (says me
