I'm surprised we've got new releases from Norihiko Hibino (Shinobi), Yuzo Koshiro (Wangan Midnight), and Naofumi Hataya & Tomoya Otani (Rhythm Kaitou R) but haven't heard anything about them around here.

Personally it's this Kingdoms of Amalur soundtrack that has me most interested, being composed by Grant Kirkhope of the gorgeous Viva Pinata OST.

Most surprisingly - a new Genso Suikoden soundtrack and not a peep?  Or hardly even for the game itself around the net as a whole.  Have Konami run their once treasured RPG series into the ground?

Suikoden's music quality has been so mixed since II, I've learned not to get my hopes up too much (3 was junk, 4 was a snoozer, 5 was generally average even with playing the game). The recent DS one was not much to write home about, aside from some nice arrangements. I want to give the new one a listen, but it's not a high priority atm.

I wouldn't mind seeing what is on that Data East album. Gamadelic is probably the most criminally underrated composing team out there. Other than their goofy vocals, I haven't heard anything bad from these guys.

I posted about Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 4 at vgmdb.net/forums. Unlike Wangan3 the tracks maintain a level of quality when the bar of main melody isn't played. I guess you could call that the point of trance: having a desirable buildup. So this lead to track 'Control Your Body' which has the best bar of melody in Wangan3 becoming a downer track. There are no super cheesy tracks in 4 like 'Get Down To The Drive' or 'Love to Rise In The Summer Morning' and the evil track 'Black Zone' is done properly unlike the evil track in 3 'Evil Association' which starts out great but dies quickly quality-wise. The cheesy track really killed me because 3 starts off very strong. Wangan3's Entry track is better than both tracks 1st tracks on Wangan 4's discs.

p.s. I recommend playing Disc 2 before Disc 1 on Wangan4.
