Great action themes with forgettable filler.

Kenji Ito has been known to be an experienced composer of action tracks, and Romancing SaGa 3 is no exception. Just like the first two SaGas before, the best songs are his battle and action tracks. The drum machine is used extensively and the synthesized "crashes" are used just as much (maybe a bit too much!). The soundtrack, for some reason, has a slight "Arabian" sound to it (am I alone on this?). The Opening/Saga Theme is here once again, and it's in the same vein as SaGa 2's. Other than the action tracks, I didn't find much else off of this three disk set. The moderate songs aren't that great, and the compositions seem like random rythms. I did find themes like Katerina and Monika to be pretty good, but nothing else. He used to be good, especially in Seiken Densetsu 1, when the music had substance. Overall, Romancing Saga 3 is pretty cool, albeit a bit unbalanced. It's more show than play, but the battles themes always rule.
