Amen!

The only game I've played with my Classic Controller is Sin & Punishment which doesn't really use the d-pad, so I can't comment on that. However, I will comment on how insanely annoying it is having to have it connected to the Wiimote. I have to try to balance the Wiimote in my lap while playing since the cord is too short to lay the Wiimote down on the floor and the Classic Controller has no way of physically attaching itself onto the Wiimote. For a system with such elegant design, I'm really surprised Nintendo let this happen.
I really prefer Gamecube controller (Wavebird) for S&P. I tried it with the Classic controller, but the analogue sticks feel somewhat weird and hard to use. Good thing with Wavebird is that it doesn't have to be connected to the Wiimote, although I don't have a problem with that.
I hope CC gets use for all the d-pad games, because that's basically why I got it. So far I have no VC games to test it with (gonna get Lords of Thunder soon though), but to me it feels pretty much like the DS Lite d-pad, only bigger.
My list is pretty basic
Gunstar Heroes
SuperStar Soldier
Soldier Blade
R-Type
Mario Kart 64
Star Fox 64
F-Zero X
Sin & Punishment
I'm considering Lords of Thunder because the music rocks my face off.
Ys Book I & II looks to finally be out on U.S. VC today. Anyone biting?

Totally. It's almost like a required play just to appreciate the roots of a certain genre/series.
I think I will have to pick up Ys I and II as well. I've greatly enjoyed Ys III on SNES, and I've played Ys VI, and got the english patched version of Oath in Felghana to work on my comp so I'm playing that too.. he he... (BTW anyone know if there is a project to make an english patch for Ys Origin? I haven't really gone looking for info on one if there is any.) I've also watched the Ys I and II anime OVA's and I liked those as well. So might as well go for it.

I should get Sin & Punishment one of these days...And I'll probably pick up Rearmed next week. I'd have done it today but I wound up jumping at Gamestop's 25%-off sale on some PSP titles.
P.S. I also have the Homebrew Channel, which of course lets me, *ahem*, bridge some deficiencies, but I still buy what I've waited for as it comes up. A tool I may be, but a guiltless one.
EDIT: Forgot Yoshi. A little sad, seeing as I may be the only person I know on the Eastern Seaboard that enjoys it.
Bought Ys I & II and flew through I in just under six hours. Good fun.

Gonna have to relive that one, were there any changes/updates to the game?

I don't know, honestly. I'd never played the game before...
Would love to hear more about the VC Ys port! How well did the redbook audio and cinemas sequences carry over?

That's because Yoshi's Cookie is like 100X better.
I've been reading that Ys I and II is the first PC Engine/TG-16 game not to have the weird fuzziness that all of them have had up until now. Is this true? Also... did they find a way to make the music loop normally or does it still stop and restart like the old redbook version?

It stops and restarts. I think if the music looped endlessly, I'd go mad. There's nothing wrong with the tunes, but there's not nearly enough of them to sustain the length of the game.

Near as I can tell, the game doesn't suffer from the fuzz filter. Everything looks pound for pound like the Turbo original - which also includes the cinematics, Adam.
The redbook music quality does suffer a bit from the compression, though. It's probably more noticeable to my ears since I've been listening to the original redbook so extensively these past few days. It's still entirely serviceable, and a small price to pay for not hogging any more of your Wii's precious memory.
