I value my fingers too much. Good lord...I actually didn't know there was a 100% run.

I picked up GH Aerosmith (almost as much to get a decent guitar for the 360 as for the game, so I can retire my Rock Band Fender and its' retarded strum bar/non-registering tilt sensor). It's decent...I'm starting on expert this time and the difficulty is nowhere near III (they don't feel the need to throw random 3-note chords in at every opportunity, thank god...at least not yet).

Not a whole lot to report. I only know a handful of Aerosmith songs and what I've heard/played is decent enough. True to form with both Last Child and Same Old Song and Dance in II and III though...A lot of Aerosmith songs are just painfully repetitive and GH tends to bring that out to spotlight pretty badly. Sweet Emotion is a blast to play and so was No Surprize (the main riff is mad fun to hit!). Need to do Tier 4 and above later tonight.

$70 for the guitar, $30 for about 41 songs...I'm fine with that.

^ I hated the Rock Band guitar controller... it's garbage.  I'm curious how the Rock Band 2 controller will be, or even the Guitar Hero World Tour one.  Actually, I guess the latter one is more important because Activision is so pathetic that they only let their software work with peripherals they develop.

I am not worthy.

Yeah, you know you're jealous.

It's the same guy, genius.

Ooooh, someone took that a little personally. Why don't you go relax and play some Guitar Hero to blow off some steam?

Not really.  An immature response just seemed to call for an equally immature response right back.  Then I just corrected your wildly-off assumption about the camera.

You're right.  I'll go ahead and play On Tour; it's sooooooo good.

I don't particularly like Guitar Hero after Activision took it over, but I have to agree with GoldfishX that the strum bar on the Rock Band guitar lacks any feedback mechanism.  It is difficult to hit notes on songs where there are a long of streaming notes back to back.  I purposely got an Guitar Hero II Xplorer guitar to use in Rock Band (Xbox 360 only).  I hope that Harmonix read the feedback about the guitar's strums and will correct this in the next generation.  Otherwise, I will just get a third-party guitar.  Harmonix said that they encourage and will work with third parties to make peripherals, unlike Activision, who seem to want people to use only the RedOctane guitars.

I wish Harmonix and RedOctane were owned by the same parent company so we can get the best of both worlds.

In a way, I do too, but I like the idea of competition...Both companies trying to one-up the other (and Rock Revolution waiting in the wings...its' 80's-heavy soundtrack means I have to get it). Plus, I respect that Rock Band is a much lesser single player game than GH, so it depends what I'm in the mood for (although I still hate a good bit of the RB notecharts).

Wow, if this true, they went for the teeth in some of those...Not even saving Master of Puppets for GH: Metallica is a good sign of that. Hallowed be Thy Name, Crazy Train, Leather Rebel (THE most underrated JP song ever, IMO and probably my favorite after Electric Eye), Teen Spirit (the ONLY Nirvana song I like..."In Bloom" not counting, since I had to learn how to use the RB drums/mic on it and it grew on me) RB dupes suck (bleh...) and some in there I'm not crazy about but ****...the classics definitely make up for it. I think this may be a declaration of war on Harmonix (whose tracklist is quite good as well).

lol, Angel of Death. Activision now has to fend off accusations of being pro-Nazi (I'm surprised they would take this one on...War Ensemble or Seasons of the Abyss would probably be far less of a hassle and just as effective, gameplay-wise). That song is going to mangle guitar controllers...Can't wait for the vocals!

Final thought: Seeing what they made for sample songs, might we be seeing many user-creater VGM rock songs? No vocals for the most part, instantly recognizable, tailor-made for GH...Hmm, the mind boggles. I'll take a round of Guilty Gear X:Heavy Rock  Tracks (W/ ability to redo bass/drums!) or F-Zero X on GH, please. Or even NES tunes just transcribed to guitar? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...*drools uncontrollably*

How'd they get Tool?  Awesome.  Just might push it into "buy" territory.

Money?  Everything Can Be Bought for the right price.

Still don't know how they intend to implement double-bass (Schism comes to mind), but I guess we'll see.

Stephen Jul 25, 2008

Activision and RedOctane announced that the GHWT list is fake.   GH fans will ahve to go back to speculating again.

GoldfishX Jul 25, 2008

I suspected as much (guitar battle vs Sting...um, he doesn't play guitar! And no way Angel of Death would be greenlighted for a game like this), but you can't blame me for hoping. And it did seem plausible for the most part...Hopefully the REAL tracklist gets people as excited.
