So, 30 to who-knows-how-many minutes of a Uematsu game soundtrack to listen to BEFORE the CD OST is released? Sounds strange to me.

Any idea when "Lost Odyssey" will be out?

Adam Corn Oct 5, 2007

Will be very curious to hear how the turnout for this is without the Final Fantasy name attached to it.  I don't expect to be there myself.

Amazingu Oct 6, 2007

I'd be all over this if it was in the Kansai area, but we tend to get ignored.

Lost Odyssey is slated for a december 6th release in Japan.

Yes, that's what I was thinking.  Hopefully it'll be well received just on Nobuo's name without any FF namesake attached.

And since his own Dog Ear Records is doing the Production of the show, he'll get the benefit of any profits for a change, instead of other companies reaping the financial benefit.

Lost Odyssey Tracklist:
Can someone translate this for me?

1) メインテーマ
2) 戦場
3) 暗闇の放浪者
4) 大航海
5) 強敵出現!
6) Eclipse of Time
7) What You Are

Just want to double check with my own translation.....

Did anyone attend this concert?  It'd be great to get some impressions on Music4Games.

Memebot.

Didn't look like anyone posted their impressions, but Crystal was kind enough to lend us hers for the site:

While the game is out in Japan already, I haven't heard much about the audio.  I guess we'll have to wait till the January soundtrack release to hear for ourselves.

What reason was there for having an "edited by" and not posting the article in its original form?

Arcubalis Dec 14, 2007

Crystal is a fan, not a writer, so it only makes sense that her general impressions are crafted into something appropriate for publication on an industry website.  Additionally, for the record, the "edited by" line was not my idea and not included at my request if that's what you're thinking.

I am a fan.  And I would rather read Crystal's pieces unedited.  That's all I have to say about that.

Cool!  I invite you to email me about any of your concerns so that we may discuss them in a private, professional manner rather having to deal with your psychotic grudge in public!

Think I'd prefer to listen to videogame music.  Thanks.

I'm on Disc 2, at about 15 hours into the game, and pretty much all I've heard so far's been really good.
It's definitely more serious and dramatic in tone than Blue Dragon (which I also loved by the way), but with a lot less Synth. Most of it is orchestral and piano. It actually frequently reminded me of the old pre-PS2 Uematsu, which is a very good thing.

The game itself is pretty moody too, lots of death and somberness. They're definitely not dealing with the COOL aspects of being immortal.

Here's the audio recording from the concert, for those interested in checking it out.

Nobuo's still got his two strong points here: Bombastic Battle themes, and Mysterious Cave/Dungeon exploring themes.

The impact of the live instruments on tracks like Army of the Holy Sword and the Land Shark Medley are nice, I hadn't even given much notice to their synth counterparts on the OST earlier.

Still love those mysterious themes of his: Cave and Wanderer in the Dark bring back some memories of the Lost Forest in FF6...

Anyways, I'll be looking forward to the Lost Odyssey OST a lot more after hearing these.

I keep getting "Cave" and "Ruins" mixed up.  I think "Ruins" was my initial favorite on the BD score.  Had some cool percussion, but I suppose it would have been hard to perform live.
