Neat to see the list of Capcom's most profitable titles and series.  clicky clicky!

SPOILER

A little part of me jumped for joy when a 5 of their Disney titles made the top 46 list.  Apparently it was their 4th most profitable series.

14. Aladdin (November 1993, SFC, 1,750,000)
16. Duck Tales, (January 1990, FC, 1,670,000)
25. Duck Tales (September 1990, GB, 1,430,000)
33. Magical Quest Starring Mickey (November 1992, SFC, 1,210,000)  <--  big_smile
35. Chip'n Dale Rescue Rangers (June 1990, FC, 1,200,000)

I'm not surprised (I'm a little surprised) at all!  The Disney games on the NES were awesome.

I find it very interesting how DMC4 is at #7, and how Monster Hunter Freedom 2 outsold RE4 (BLASPHEMY). And now, a really thin picture of Chun-Li cosplay.

Hey, I bought Duck Tales on the NES....
and rented/played the other Disney ones on the list too.

Glad to see the SFC version of Street Fighter 2 topping the list, I remember being mesmerized by that shit being so much like the arcade but on a home system, it was a mindblowing game at the time.

Wow, that really puts the impact of SF2 on the SNES into perspective.  No wonder people say that it's the title which put the SNES into real contention with the Genesis during the 16-bit wars.

02. Mega Man Series (120 titles, 28,000,000)

lol, Capcom.

Street Fighter 2 on the SNES.. (JULY-15-1992)

Capcom kinda dropped the ball on that version. When you consider the kind of business it did, why the hell wasn't the first version 20 megabits to begin with?

And i always thought the music in the Genesis version sounded closer to the arcade version than the SNES synth, but i blame Capcom's SNES-formatted synthesizers used at the time instead of the SNES's sound chip itself. The musics coming from the Konami camp (Legend of Mystic Ninja, CV4, etc.) proved that it wasn't the SNES's own sound capabilities to blame..

One of the most memorable things about Mickey's Magical Quest (for me) was the way the reflection of burning flames was cast upon the surface of water whenever close by, talk about Attention to Detail!

..But then again, i never was any good at Gardening ever since Taxidermy became meh True Hobby..

Did you say Node, or..?

Wait, a BATTLE NETWORK GAME is the second-most successful MM title ever? That might be the most depressing thing I've read this month.

I'm also curious as to why Breath of Fire is listed as having 12 titles. I-V + remakes of I-IV = 9. Is there something I've missed?

I count 10:

BoF (SNES, GBA) = 2
BoF2 (SNES, GBA, Wii-VC) = 3
BoF3 (PSX, PSP) = 2
BoF4 (PSX, PC) = 2
BoF5 (PS2) = 1

I have no idea what the other two would be unless there's PSN versions of BoF3-4 or mobile versions of the first two.

EDIT: I bet they count multiple SKUs like Japan's "THE BEST" versions as separate titles.

What's really blasphemous is that UMBRELLA CHRONS made the list, although i admit i was one of the people dumb enough to buy it for $50.

..And the ps2 version of re4 outselling the GameCube version is even more blasphemous, although i admit i was one of the people dumb enough to buy that too..

Alternately, could they be counting virtual console releases?

"You must be the one they call Gentle Ben. Get up. Now!" *rattles cell door*

'I almost got the story..'

Do you remember, Ashley? The mixing of Werk and Play? The clashing of titans, almighty Sony doing the evil & charismatic-Capcom a two-dimensional favor for selling-out all their Sideways-Resting OverHeating ps1's on January The 21st??

But soon.. soon...

*hack*
*gaggle*
*wheeze*
*cough-cough*

Sadly, I was one of the idiots who bought both Street Fighter II and Super Street Fighter II for SNES. Somehow I missed out on Turbo, which is arguably the best of the bunch.

What's surprising to me is that Duck Tales for Game Boy sold so well. I think it  was a relatively faithful port, but I didn't know so many people were clamoring to play it on the go.

The only VC release I know of is BoF2 which I already have in my count.
