Okay, so E3 this week! I'll pencil in my own answers in a bit:

1) Will you be attending this year?

2) What games are you most looking forward to being covered? Any sort of announcement predictions?

3) What are you hoping we'll see at the show, whether it's a long shot or no?

jb May 8, 2006

1) no
2) World of Warcraft Expansion!!!
3) Nothing

Zane May 8, 2006

1) No.

2) Guitar Hero II, Gitarooman (PSP), Resident Evil 5, Lumines 2, Every Extend Extra, Metroid Prime 3, Mortal Kombat Armageddon.

3) Something worthwhile for the PSP that wasn't originally released in the late 80's/early 90's... as well as Irregular Hunter X2; something next-gen I'm interested in that isn't just a wet graphical upgrade of a game/series I've already played; a new project from Team ICO; a public quartering of the Rockstar North dev team; a new Contra; something else that's ridiculous/amazing/confusing from SUDA 51 & Grasshopper; less ugly blonde white chicks wearing EA Games tee shirts and short shorts.

Jay May 8, 2006

1)no

2)eh...I don't know what's been announced. Nights for the Rev if they show it. I'm curious about the new Sonics but there hasn't been a decent Sonic game since S&K and, even then, the cracks were showing so I don't hold out much hope.

3) English Suikoden for PSP. Shenmue 3 (yeah, I know). Silent Hill 5. GTA: Wherever. Street Fighter 4. Street Fighter Alpha 4. Pocket Fighter 2 (GBA). Anything for the handhelds...

h3 May 8, 2006

Front Mission 5, ffs.

discoalucard May 8, 2006

(1) Yup, leaving tomorrow.

(2) You know...other than Portrait of Ruin, not much. Maybe MGS4?

(3) If Nintendo doesn't announce a translation of Mother 3, there is something wrong with them. Also, Square had better announce Front Mission 5. In general, I hope there's some cool Wii stuff.

1. No

2. Not really sure. Most interested in what this "backwards compatibility" of the Wii is all about.

3. The price of PS3. Price and launch date of Wii. Screenshots/videos of Wii games. Lots of images/videos from Resident Evil 5.

1. No, and you have no idea how much I hate myself for this "fiscally responsible" decision.  This would have been my 10th show...

2. Wii and DS games are what I'm most interested in this year.  Well, those and MGS4 (to the internet savvy -- please link mirrors for trailer downloads).  For predictions, I predict that many people on the internet will get pissy when neither Sony nor Nintendo announce either price or release date information for their new systems.

3. I'm hoping whatever brand new IPs Nintendo comes up with for the Wii will be amazing.  Also, like many others, I'm hoping (praying) Nintendo will announce Mother 3 for the U.S.  Finally, I want to see Sony display a redesigned PSP with TV-output functionality.

Basically, it's backwards compatible with GameCube games (the system includes four NGC controller ports and two NGC memory card slots).

The other "virtual console" stuff is essentially the same as Xbox Live Arcade.  You pay to download classic game for various systems and there will probably be some new games offered for download as well (just like on XBLA).

I'd prefer a GBPlayer-esque device that attaches through a PS2 and is substantially cheaper... I'd probably pay $100 or so for it when Capcom Puzzle World and Powerstone Collection are released.

1) No.
2) Stuff for the DS and Wii.
3) Some running demos for the Wii.  We need to see the Wii controller in actual use.

Ryu May 8, 2006 (edited May 8, 2006)

1.  No and never have, most likely never will.

2.  Really curious about the final revelation of the Wii, including price, street date, and Nintendo's own games.  Even so, it appears it has some rather intriguing 3rd party support that has me very interested, even in games I usually would just ignore.  A Twilight Princess release date would also be really nice.  More on Resident Evil 5 would also be great.  An X360 price drop would be wonderful too, but I don't see that happening... at least not until before the systems, especially the PS3 launch.

3.  A new Advance Wars or two, either DS or Wii; Square get the FFVII remake announcement out of the way, and then the three year wait begins before it is actually released; new console Ace Combat announced---hopefully not for PS3 though; ICO team game announced, but I know that's too soon, for PS3---not PSP---even though I don't need a PS3 temptation; Nintendo releasing the GBA Mother series here; a new non-GBA-style Klonoa; some releases for the summer announced (like Twilight Princess for June 4th) worth getting because otherwise its a long wait to October/November.

Nintendo has promised that this show will give attendees the opportunity to play a variety of Wii titles.

Yes, a Twilight Princess date would be nice.  Speculation currently points to September, and it obviously won't be later than the Wii launch (most likely the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving), but hopefully this show will clear at least that up.

As for an X360 price cut, I wouldn't expect to see one of those until PS3s are easy to get (read: Spring 2007).  That said, there's probably a good chance that MSFT will increase the HD size this fall.

Sakura Wars PSP coming to the US!

THAT would give me a reason to buy one.

(and sonsequently, ST5 Ep 0 and/or 1 as well would be great)

>>1) Will you be attending this year?

As usual, nope.  Although from the sounds of last year's monstrously-hectic showing, it seems like it'll be a good thing getting all the news in the convenience of one's own home.

>>2) What games are you most looking forward to being covered? Any sort of announcement predictions?

Ouendan looks like it'll finally get an announcment, though what I've said before appeared to be largely untrue.  Believed now to be renamed "Elite Beat Agents," the game looks like it's being remade from the ground up.  According to ToastyFrog, "it's been given entirely new scenarios and music, making it effectively a sequel to one of the best games on DS."

Handhelds get a lot of lovin' from me, and I'm pining to see more of Portrait of Ruin, Final Fantasy V + VI Advance, Final Fantasy III DS, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Cooking Mama, Mario vs Donkey Kong 2 DS, Gitaroo Man Lives!, Silent Hill Original Sin, and the new PSP Metal Gear Solid.

Metal Gear Solid 4 and Yakuza.  Ape Escape: Million Monkeys.  More confirmed songs for Guitar Hero 2, plus I'd love to see what the new play layout looks like.  Wii-related news should be exciting; both the new Wario Ware and tennis game has me most intrigued, not to mention the new Dragon Quest.  And indeed, here's hoping for a system launch date and pricing.

>>3) What are you hoping we'll see at the show, whether it's a long shot or no?

Any word on the Gyakuten Saiban/Phoenix Wright sequels being localized.  Of course, seeing them on either the DS or the GBA would be preferred, but even something on the games appearing on cell phones wouldn't be objectionable either.  An official domestic release date for Okami.  Anything on After Burner Climax.  The inevitable re-design of the PSP.  And yes, a release date for Twilight Princess.

GoldfishX May 8, 2006 (edited May 8, 2006)

1. No.

2. Not a great deal (most of the really appealing titles for me have come out in the first half of the year). Just hoping for some good RPG coverage of some titles I've been looking at (Ar Tonelico has been announced for a US release, but I don't see it listed for E3). The bonuses in FFVI Advance are something I'm keeping a close ear out for and I'll be interesting to see how Phantom Hourglass fares. And of course, the new Valkyrie Profile, which I'm glad to be listing at number 2 here and not at #3 down below. Lastly, my childhood has me clinging to hopes that Charlie Brown Allstars, Snoopy and the Red Baron, Pac Man World Rally and Charlotte's Web will emerge as fun, playable diversions and not the cheap licensed coasters they're destined to become...

3. New 2D fighters from Capcom and/oror Arc...More (good) 2D platformers to cash in on the inevitable success of New Super Mario Brothers...UMD Player for PS2 or announced as a feature for PS3...I second Sakura Wars making it over (I will always point to this series as exhibit A for Sega's bad decision-making...Even with basically every anime based on the series seeing a domestic release and strat RPG's gaining momentum, still nothing)... Princess Crown, Tokimeki Memorial and Gurumin getting PSP domestic releases...Non-Metrovania Castlevania-3-style Castlevania game...Kid Icarus (rumored ages ago for Revolution/Wii)...

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sony for thwarting  me mere hours after I posted the above. ;-)

And how!  $600.00 is steeper than steep.  By all rights (and at this point in time), I'll essentially be paying close to $700 just to play one game.  o_O

I would also like to thank Sony for bringing back memories of the launches of both the 3DO and the Neo Geo Cartridge system. Pure nostalgia.

On the other hand...Now would be the perfect chance for Nintendo to strike back with their launch price. Now that Sony's shown their hand, there isn't a better time to strike...

Great!  After Sony's badly-shown gyro controller, I think Nintendo can score major PR points with functioning hardware.
