last time, the meet and greet was After the show
Just found this at 1up.com:
Earlier this week the upcoming worldwide concert series PLAY! Announced renowned Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu would be making an appearance at the event's kick off performance in Chicago at the end of May.
That's not the only surprise PLAY! has in store for videogame music aficionados, as not only will Uematsu be in attendance, but he'll be packing a special surprise. Our spies tell us it wouldn't be out of line to expect a sneak peak into what Uematsu's been up to these days, but you didn't hear that from us.
In addition, PLAY! will also play host to another well known Japanese composer, but our men on the inside weren't able to strangle the name out of the PLAY!'s producer before being caught.

Interesting. More composers to attend?
to expect a sneak peak into what Uematsu's been up to these days
Maybe The Black Mages will perform some new stuff?
another well known Japanese composer
*crosses fingers for Hitoshi Sakimoto and them playing the Vagrant Story staff roll*

Could be Koji Kondo - he's not confirmed yet as a guest, is he?
Not yet he's not.
Meh! I want a press kit for the event, the videos and backgrounds and stuff.

Can anyone hack it? :-D
The speculations have begun
Here are two radio interviews with producer Jason Michael Paul:

The interviews are at the end of both shows. Enjoy!

Personally I believe it could be basically any composer but Koji Kondo. I rarely see any interviews with him or information about his person. For me he is like a video game music phantom.
My guess would be somebody like Hitoshi Sakimoto. Looks easier for me to get him to Chicago.
So it was indeed Koji Kondo! That's fantastic.
Even more good news: Music from Blue Dragon will be performed exlusively at the Chicago concert!
My God. So we've got Mitsuda, Yamaoka, Uematsu, and Kondo all in the same place at the same time...about two thousand miles north of me.
On Memorial Day weekend.
And I work weekends.
It's like I've died and gone to heaven!!!!

This is very true. I rarely see him in public appearances or if there are, someone hasn't been doing their job reporting/promoting it. Maybe he doesn't like the spotlight. He's a pretty shy guy, so I've heard (source: 1up.com, and MZBBL concert).
Last I recall, he did the Mario Zelda Live concert 3 years ago (and that was the last time i saw him) and some E3 promo stuff.
Still, I'm happy for you for those who get to see him.
AND for THOSE of you who ARE going: you are bound by laws of STC to RECORD this. BE DAMNED the consequences! You hear me?! ;p
I'd love to hear some live Shenmue.
Althought it says on their website, they're going to Asia. It doesn't say when. Sigh.
Even more sweet news for Chicago: Angela Aki is going to perform "Kiss Me Good-Bye" at the concert! It will indeed be an exclusive event not to miss. Maybe even more good news will be announced in the coming weeks, but can it be much better than it already is?
With the addition of Angela Aki I think it actually got worse.

I happen to enjoy the song. It's no Melodies of Life, but I still like it, and I'm really excited to hear it performed live.

I agree with you. I think the song has to grow on you first before it is really enjoyable, but Angela Aki is a great singer. I like her style.
Takenobu Mitsuyoshi has been announced for Chicago, too.
Yesterday, Marty O'Donnell and Mike Salvatori made it to their list of video game composers to attend the concert as well.

I think Marty O'Donnell is actually old news, I thought he has been announced right from the beginning.
Anyway, Takenobu Mitsuyoshi's music for Shenmue is absolutely stunning in my opinion.

HOLY SHIT!
He **NEEDS** to sing "Let's Go Away" from Daytona USA (Daaaayytoooooonaaaaaaaaaaaaa) on stage. My life will be complete if that happens. Man, this concert is shaping up to be INCREDIBLE! Thanks for the news.
Next announcement better be Sakimoto.

Chris Hülsbeck is coming to the concert in Sweden! Now we have Nobuo and Chris attending. June 14 seems to be a great day.
Next announcement better be Sakimoto.

I'd say the next announcement needs to be a DVD Video, heh

He should also sing the hilarious Ryu arrange he did for the SF Tribute CD and the clinically cheesy "Winner Take All" from one of those VF1/2 arrange albums (though I have no idea if he sang the original or not).
On a related note, who wouldn't pay to see live versions of "Sega Saturn Shiro" and "Ukase wa Dreamcast"?
Nice extra for all Chicago-concert goers:
An in-store signing event will take place on May 26, 2006, one day prior to the world premiere of PLAY!: Nobuo Uematsu, Angela Aki and Arnie Roth will appear at the Tower Records N. Clark Store in Chicago.
Sad that I won't be going up till the day of the concert - as long as I still get to meet him at the meet and greet.
