...Finally checking it out...man, what an intro, I haven't gotten the VGM chills like this since...well Ys for T16 (Call me stuck in the late 90s), in any event, this is what I'm talking about, where do we find more of the stuff like this?  I guess this is pseudo J-pop, but damn, super catchy and rockin...is there an extended version within the game and/or an s/t release?

p.s. Grandia III so far is a work of art..

I just finished Grandia III, and I must say that "a work of art" aptly describes the game.  Unfortunately the banal plot manages to drag down what would otherwise be a truly amazing rpg experience.  Game Arts seemed to decide to take every major plot element of every previous RPG they've made and mash them together, making a whole that is definitely less than the sum of its parts.  Also, I spent the entire game wanting to punch Alfina in the face.  The worst thing is that I think she's probably even worse in the Japanese version, where I'd expect her voice actress to be much higher pitched and refer to herself as "atashi."

Everything else, though, is golden.  The graphics are gorgeous, the art direction is brilliant, the dungeons are competently made, and the combat system is a refinement of a system that was already my favorite in the genre.  If you're looking for an RPG that carries its weight on pure gameplay, this is the one for you.

Interesting take...I think the whole concept is overly childish, and I would like to see something more mature in a gaming experience, however, it cannot be denied the polish of the game.   And that intro music, "In The Sky"...Not sure where the longer English version can officially be acquired.

I liked Grandia III's battle system quite a bit but the plot was so trite and the characters so cliched that I couldn't be bothered to go through the game.

The only good thing I can say about Grandia III is that it has some great graphics and of course the aforementioned brilliant battle system, other than that it's extremely cliched.
And the Dungeons are nothing worth mentioning either.
It could and should've been MUCH better.
