Four years after the release of Resident Evil 4, a company has finally replicated Leon's stylish jacket infamously lost at the end of the game's first level.

Read on: http://shufflerinthedark.blogspot.com/2 … price.html

Sadly, e-Capcom has no more in stock nor does the manufacturer.

You're STILL looking for that jacket, guy?  I'd knit/sew you one..... if I were capable of such abilities.

$287 isn't that bad of a price for a collectible like that, actually.  Here's hoping they produce more in the future.

Stephen Feb 12, 2009

According to the blog entry, even the official one does not seem to quite match up with the jacket in the game.  At $287, I'm sure you could use that to pay a tailor to make a better replica.

Bernhardt Feb 14, 2009 (edited Feb 14, 2009)

I personally prefer Squall's (Final Fantasy VIII) black leather jacket with the white wolf fur collar...

Now, if I could only find something REAL like that, and not a cosplay costume piece, that'd be nice...

Really? There are tailors out there who can do that kind of thing? I'd like to know where I could find one of those guys!

Be careful with that comment.  Some cosplayer do design their costumes to be durable like a "real" piece of clothing.  Most do not do this, but a few do make the effort.

There are definitely tailors who can do leatherworking, but you probably won't find them at the local dry cleaners.  This type of leatherworking is a niche profession like blacksmithing (i.e. hand-made), which is why I said one could use the $287 towards making one.  I would not say it would cost only $287.   If you want something that is a replica, it's going to cost a lot of money.  I'd say the cost of making Leon's bomber jacket (labor and materials) would exceed $500 if a tailor were to make one.

XISMZERO Feb 16, 2009

I've had a hard time getting my jackets tailored at all. And we're talking just tightening sleeves, fixing in-seams on anything that isn't a suit. My dad and granddad are tailors and say most simple work on jackets are just too difficult or would be too costly, painstanking.

About the jacket by Phantom, in an email, a spokesperson made the claim there will be no more made. Stupid not to produce anymore and still display it on the website like a catalog item without any chance of even taking requests or special orders for a future stock. In any event, it still seems odd to only have it available for reservation-only within a window of maybe a month or so.

Ah well, I'm keeping my eyes out for other replicas. By god, someone please make a 1:1 jacket like this!

I'd go for that one, too. smile

Speaking of Jackets, I believe there was an ad that came with Tomb Raider II that had the Bomber Jacket she wore in the Himalayas for sale.

That game annoyed me though... after the first game had like four or five enemies with guns (the others being natural enemies that put an emphasis on gaining a height advantage for one's safety) the second game has a zillion guys with freakin' guns. Love ya Core/Eidos, really...

Found this iteration of Leon's jacket (plus outfit) on a mass produce cosplay costume website Moon Costumes.

http://www.mooncostumes.com/item/23937

The jacket cut is perfect if I do say but the materials used are so-so (no pun intended). Yeah, I think the makers missed the mark on the colors and some other minor attention to detail plus the "fur" used on the interior and lining but this is a close replica. I think $425 is way too steep for the mediocrity of the product shown.

Judging by their other creations, their quality assurance is slipshod. C'mon, $425 for the outfit?!

I agree that for at least $425, the workmanship is not that great on this.  It sounds like a money grab only with no attention to accuracy.

Apparently, Moon Costumes take requests to make items from scratch! I've submitted a bevy of pictures and information regarding the jacket to which I will receive a quote. I'm expecting it to range within the nosebleed range (probably like $600?), but if it's 1:1 scale, I might just plop down the money. I'll update when I find out what the tailor says.

Yes, for very specialized items, some costumers will make them on an individual basis.  Given the leatherwork involved and the need for proper tools (a standard sewing machine's needle cannot go through leather), you may be looking at $800-$1000.  If the work is being done from China, you probably will get a quote around $500-$600, but I'm not sure of the quality (the quality varies depending on the costumer).

The cost would probably be astronomical. About Moon Costumes, it appears my commission order has disappeared. Oh well.

My search is over.

Here's a version of Leon's jacket I purchased on eBay last month. According to the seller, he bought it in Japan in 2006 at some game/collector merchandiser for about 52,000 yen ($525). It was an official Capcom item, commissioned by a Korean clothing company.

As you can see, it's chillingly accurate to the game version (thought not the official art ones) with some extra fan service trimmings: R.P.D. and S.T.A.R.S. logos on the shoulder areas. The cut isn't perfect but I had it tailored to fit like a glove. Have a look...

Shoe Apr 28, 2009

It's really sharp.

Congratulation on finding it, you should take some more pictures (of you wearing it).

Yes, I will have to get some pictures of me suited up. The collar won't stay up too well if not zipped and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas to remedy this. I've thought of stitching pipecleaners to give it a structure but I'm not terribly crafty with a sewing machine.

Oh dear. Look at all that fur. sad

Oh, excellent!

Stephen May 1, 2009 (edited May 1, 2009)

May I ask how much you paid for it?  The seller paid $525 originally, so I presume you go it for less.
I'm glad you got something you liked.

For an official jacket, that is pretty decent.  Far better than other versions I've seen come and gone.

XISMZERO Nov 1, 2009 (edited Nov 1, 2009)

For those fanatics and collectors interested, Phantom is reproducing that elusive reproduction Leon's Bomber Jacket unveiled last Fall from Resident Evil 4. Like last year, it will be reservation-only from September until December 20th (I believe).

NCSX or a middle-man could get you one (though at over $400) should you really want it. The picture doesn't accurately portray the jacket -- I believe it's more brown but I could be wrong.

My only concern is that the smallest size is Medium (which seems a tad big for me), and though Asian sizes are typically one smaller than US, the measurements seem more like a US Medium than a Japan one.
